Finally Yoko AD08s

On tirerack these tires were compared to slightly cheaper Bridgestone R11, which won the test by an insignificant margin. Can anybody comment on comparing the two?

I have always liked Yokohama tires, had good success with every set I have bought.
Somewhere I recall a technician telling me that Yokohamas in general were easier to balance, as they were more uniform and round then other brands. Not sure how true that really is

Tyres for Craig
I looked at Tire Rack, saw the AD 08, but not AD 08R (If there is such a tire){There is such a tire UTQG 180: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+Neova+AD08+R&frontTire=24WR8 AD08R&rearTire=83WR8AD08R&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes.
Glad to hear things went well…that pic of your car is awesome…that's the way a wide body should look…thanks for the Chuckwalla report. Now that your car has been tracked, might as well cover it in 3M and bring it out to Willow Springs for the February 8th/9th event, the Performance Driving Series.
I priced out AD 08 at Tire Rack…they come with 6/32 of tread; some of us would have the tires shaved to 4/32 at $15 a tire…also add $15 a tire for heat cycling.
235/40 fronts @$318
285/30 rears @ $349
That's $667 a side + $60 a side for shaving, $60 a side for heat cycling.
Now we are at $787 a side, or $1,574 for a set. If you are a Yokohama aficionado, these may be the tires for you. I started out on Yokohama A008, and later A008RS, back in the 90's.
That is 50% more than Nitto NT-01 tires (UTQG 100), about the same price as Hoosiers (UTQG 40) BUT, you can't drive to the track on Hoosiers, Hankook Z 214 for that matter..
Decisions decisions….alternatives from my corner are Nitto NT-01 and the Hankook Z 214, both priced at about $1,000 a set. The Nittos (UTQG 100) are good for about 20 heat cycles, the Z 214 (UTQG 40) wear like Hoosiers, about 9 to 11 good heat cycles.

NT01 for me but only when the forecast does not predict rain. I corded my second set 2 weeks ago and I drove new personal bests the day before. They had more than 20 heat cycles at this time. I felt that they started loosing grip one session prior cording.
