My new BBS wheels and slippery slope updates!

Hi Knight,
I have procured PSS10 and LMs (To be reverse mounted) for my 1997 metallic black 993 S.
Looking at your ride height it looks around RS levels, is that correct please? I'm looking to set mine about the same.
I could not see that you had fitted RS Uprights (Carriers) to drop the car that low? Did you manage to get away with not fitting RS Uprights please and if so, do you suffer any bump steer?
Thanks in advance.

Where can I buy the clear-lens fog lights? Those look beautiful.

If you do a RL search, I believe some have taken the glass out (not easy from what I've read) and re-sprayed the backing to a silver tone which creates an even cleaner fog like appearance.

Having read this thread last year I finally decided to take the plunge with my own Slippery Slope and reimagine my 993 S to how I always wanted her to look. As a byproduct, I ended up writing an article for my region's section in the UK Porsche Owners Club which will serve to detail here the updates I made to my porker...
1997 Porsche 911 Model 993 Carrera S - Re-Imagining
I purchased my 993 S in 2008 from a dealer in London having previously owned a new Boxster S and always wanting the dream 993 model 911. I saw a 993 drive through a town close-by with the sun glinting off the gleaming 993 lines and that was it, I simply had to have one. I had previously placed an order for a new 996 model 911 but cancelled this because my heart was not in the new shape and size. Following purchase, I searched out Steve Bull Specialist Cars in Devizes to look after her mechanically and the car’s relationship with Porsche Master Mechanic Christian Sanger was born.
I drove the car fairly regularly in the first year or so of ownership but she was always somewhat of a garage queen; never being driven in the rain and always stored during the winter months. However, I was never enamoured with the turbo whale tail wing that the original owner had fitted and though the wheels were the originally ordered hollow turbo ‘twists’, I knew the car would look better with wider more detailed rims.
In the summer of 2017, I decided I would go all out and re-imagine the 993 S into the car I felt it should always have been. I contacted Christian, now singularly running his own business at ‘Christian Sanger Sportscar Service’ to discuss what I hoped to achieve and the seed was sown!
In addition to removing the non-original turbo wing and fitting wider wheels, I decided to go all in and refurbish the suspension, dropping the ride height to somewhere near RS specification and detail the car’s paintwork throughout finishing with a full SunTek Ultra clear Paint Protection wrap. I researched specialist car detailing and came across Master Detailer Ted Whitehall at ‘Devil In The Detail’; I already had experience of PaintShield’s high standard of work having already used their services to protect a daily runner of mine.
The full reimagining consisted of the following work stages:-
- Full Suspension upgrade/refurbishment - Porsche Parts/Christian Sanger
- Lowered to RS height on PSS10s coilover shocks - Carnewal Parts/Christian Sanger
- Turbo wing delete for S engine lid with split Grill in Vesuvius silver (Steel Grey) - Christian Sanger/Paint by Chartwells of Derby
- New bonnet and engine lid stay struts - Porsche Parts/Christian Sanger
- New BBS LM wheels, polished and reversed, shod with Bridgestone SO2A 295 and 225 rubber - Rimstyle Imported Wheels/Polished by S&T Chrome Plating/Reversed and fitted by Christian Sanger
- Side repeaters upgraded to clear edition - Christian Sanger
- Full large service with the addition of gearbox oil refreshed - Christian Sanger
- Full multi-stage paint correction detailing with stone chip repairs & flat sanding where required - Ted Whitehall @ Devil In The Detail
- Full SunTek Ultra PPF clear wrap - PaintShield

Thanks, it took a shed load of tenacity and dedication from myself and the great team that maintain it for me but we got there and I'm really pleased with the final look; though is it ever really final?! lol.

Would you mind explaining what it means when you say the wheels are "reversed shod" with the tires? Thanks!

I've never been a fan of black paint especially on 911s, but you've done a nice job caring for yours--and keeping it relevant.
