I always wondered if you could put a skin on them, like how people wrap their cars. You would think it would work and not really be that much effort to do 4 wheels. I'd toyed with going with black centers on my Hollows and wouldn't want to paint, but would do a wrap.
Ron, check that link above on Plasti-Dip or find the prior threads on it....errr, here: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...-tried-it.html
Even pics of my matte black center caps like you are thinking about. They make a clear coat that would shine them up if needed, but I wanted matte.
I am pretty Sure I am going to paint the newer 996 Turbo Twists and leave the stock 993 turbo twists alone. I am going to have the shop paint one wheel Arena Red and another Steel Grey, both with polished lips and see which one looks better. If anyone has pics of an arena red car with painted wheels that they could post that would also be helpful.
A few images from the archives (Vesuvius is the grey)... I'm not sure I'd paint one of each to help decide. I'd pick a color and stick with it. Changing back can be quite a task (sanding, re-priming, re-painting, etc.).
I just bought some gunmetal gray Plasti Dip spray.... stay tuned.
done that, and posted pictures I seem to remember - the gunmetal has too much blue in it, it does not look right with Arena Red. I switched over to black, much better.
