I have the second lightest tint all the way around, except for windshield.
The place I went had 5 grades from limo to very light.
I forget the exact numbers but it is something like 80% light transmission, but 40% heat rejection.
My primary objective is heat rejection and protecting the interior.
I like it, but I wouldn't want it any darker, would make it too difficult to see at night, and my night vision is getting bad all by itself without hindering it even more.
Good question. Here in AZ I have an OEM 993. PO kept it as original as possible, so no tint. However, the sun/heat out here is ridiculous. Interiors can reach 130 degrees inside of 20-30 minutes. I am very tempted to tint as it is pretty much mandatory if you intend on driving anywhere.
Still on the fence. At least until the end of summer.
Get yourself down there first then figure it out IMO.
Personally can't stand tint, although we drive cars from the era, up here tint is literally so 90's. But I can understand if it's seriously to protect from sun and keep away the heat.
I def wouldn't go too dark, especially on a white car.
I prefer the stock look, thought tint can look better only with some colors IMHO. If it's outside a lot and you don't mind the look, it would be a good way to protect the interior.
I installed tint on a previous black 911 I had...loved the look, hated how closed in it made me feel, and how it severely effected visibility...especially at night.

Never again
Great point. I have a dark tint on my DD and it really is an issue at night.
Are you looking to keep it cooler when it sits for long periods or in between errands? If it sits for longer periods, I would get a good outside car cover. I'm not big on tint on any vehicle, especially on a 993, however my wife's new Outback came with factory tint and It serves its purpose.
While I am not a fan of tints, I have lived in some hot places where it is required. My 993 has tint, but I didn't even notice it for the first 6 months that I owned it. The other owner had it tinted with a high quality tint that doesn't darken the windows, but it blocks the heat and rays that fade. I like it a lot, and it is not noticable at all.
I suggest that you wait until you get to Boulder as there will be lots of shops that know the best products to use. And I always use a windshied reflective thing when parked in the sun, that serves to keep the heat down dramatically.
