It seems that many people do this and comment that the car handles better.

It doesn't necessarily make the car handle better, but what it does do is give you a better feel for the car. The engine will feel more connected to your rear end.

If the engine mounts are worn enough that the engine is shifting around a lot in the engine compartment that could actually throw the handling out a bit but I think it's more of a perceptual thing.

Do it, you won't regret it. WEVO mounts are very nice and have two stiffness options (start soft).

Lots of opinions here if the search function works. I did the Wevo mounts and like them.

Some think they've gained 25 HP just because the exhaust is louder.

Most stock mounts are sagging a bit, by now. My biggest improvement was smarter shifting from 1st-2nd, when accelerating hard.

If you are thinking of replacing your engine mounts. I have a set of RS engine mounts with all the hardware needed to install with less then 50 miles on them. In other words almost New.

Mine too. I used to crunch the box every time going into 2nd at a particular uphill lefthander at Calabogie. RS mounts fixed that.

The only NVH with my Porsche RS mounts is when the A/C compressor is on. I can hear a slight whirring noise, as it cycles.

As part of my recent suspension re-do (I was following your FSD/M033 DIY thread), I replaced the front control arm bushing w/ Elephant Racing sport hardness bushings (mine were shot) and swapped my original motor mounts for Wevo SS/blacks. The motor mounts were likely a "slippery slope" decision; changing the rear shocks required fiddling w/ the motor mounts, so I figured why not?

With just 300 miles and one DE day, I'm happy with the results. I can't say how much is attributable to replacing worn structs/shocks/control arm bushings, the lowered height, or the Wevo's.

But overall, the car feels more direct and planted w/o being harsh.

The difference depend on how bad your current motor mounts are.
In my case, my mounts were in pretty good shape, when I put WEVO blacks on. What I noticed was a little more direct feeling steering and shifting. It wasn't a huge difference, and there is a little more noise transmitted to the cabin, but after a few drives it becomes the standard and I don't even notice it.

Am I glad I did it? Sure, at some point in time they would have needed to be replaced anyway. Did they need to be replaced, no not really.with my other suspension mods though, I like the overall feel of the car and think that my car is better with the Wevos than the stock MMs.

Keep in mind, though, everyone has different levels of tolerance, and different tastes, my suggestion is to drive someone's car that has the Wevos, or the RS mounts to see if you like them.

I have driven Gonzillas car, who has the RS mounts with very similar suspension to my own, and I cannot really tell the difference between his car and my car. Except he has way cooler seats than I do.

My stock mounts were getting tired and as a result, the rear end had a vague feel to it. I put in a set of Wevo blacks and a TRG strut tower bar at the same time. The car does seem significantly more "planted" than before and the shifts are more precise as well.

I have a 1994 tiptronic daily driver and changed the engine mounts to RS mounts. The gear changes on the tipo were much faster and tighter as a result and I had much better feel of the car through the throttle. Almost no change in vibration/noise that I could detect and I spend at least an hour in the car every day (11,000 kilometres in 6 months) so I noticed it - if it was a weekend car I don't think I would have been able to tell.

I did this upgrade on both the Targa and Turbo - the stock mounts in both cars were in good shape - and honestly no difference that I could tell.

Maybe your mileage would be different with worn mounts.

I had both observations; the improved shifting was very nice. The increased NVH is pretty slight for me - not an issue at all.
