Default Headlight out - good idea to convert to HID's?

Was just curious - if I convert to HID's headlights - am I asking for trouble?
Just worried that they are not reliable. Does anyone have any experience after converting over? Also can someone recommend a shop in Northern NJ that would install? Thanks

OK, Jack, do a search on HID conversion. Use advanced search to limit to 993 forum. You can spend your next day reading the many satisfied owners' reports and 1/2 dozen how-to-dos.

I bought mine thru ddm tuning around 65 bucks shipped to Canada. There are plenty of DIYs out there. Was super easy and the ballasts will fit inside the headlight housing. No need to bring it to someone. I have the 35w 5000k Slim ballasts and couldnt be happier.

I did exactly the same three years ago and am equally satisfied. When I replace the bulbs, I'll probably use something nearer 4300K for a bit less white light.

Very happy with my DDM HIDs. Install took about 30 min...this is a 1 on the scale of 1-10 DIY jobs.

I just converted mine to HID and very satisfied with the product and installation time, five minutes each, bought from http://www.bergvillfx.com/products.html Tore has a great product, highly recommended!

Oh definitely DIY. Very simple to do and the increased light output is worth every penny. Don't forget to check your lightbeam aim.

Hey Jackcas, why don't you do it like I did?
I ran HID's for some 4 years and now finally converted to Bi Xenons.
Here's my link.

Checked out the website. Looks easy enough to install. Is it correct this kit does not require soldering?

The conversion kits are so inexpensive, there's no reason not to!

This is the simplest kit, no soldering, no cutting wires, simple plug-n-play literally! All you need is a Phillips screw driver for the ballast install.

You also get LED bulbs for the fog lights:
