I received the BBS centers for the rear wheels today. They had been soda blasted and powder coated in black.
I think the specs are spot on:

That looks great Juha, the fit of the wheel in the wheel well as well as the tire fit on those wheels.

Did you end up with 285's on the front?

They are 295/30/18 in the front...
I think that and moving out the hubs alone make a HUGE improvement in the speed trough the slow corners (which our tracks here are full with). Then add the aero, the traction in the rear etc. I think I will breaking my lap records by big margins...

Front wheels, 10.5x18" with 295/30/18:

295, that is awesome... That is what I am running on the rear of mine

Setup is going to be crucial. I know when I put 255 f and 285 rears on my car I was having all sorts of trouble getting heat into the front tires.

Juha,

I would check the tires sizes that Porsche tested on the RSR. They determined that you could actually go too big on the front for performance. I settled into the 275 even though you can fit more rubber. Part of the formula is getting heat into the front with the weight balanced so much to the rear. I have run a variety of combos in sprint races including 255's. The lat G difference is not that much if any, but the temps and pressures are all over the map.

I have 27/64/18 racing slicks for the fronts (will go on the Kinesis wheels) and 30/65/18 for the rear.
The Toyos are more for fun than trying to squeeze the last tenths of the lap times.

Plus the local tracks here are very slow compared to tracks in US and elsewhere in Europe. I think getting the tires to heat up shouldn't be a problem. Lots of tight slow corners and no air flow to cool the tires.

every update seems to be quite substantial and I just can't get enough of your 993 Juha! My car just got out of paint and they are still waiting for my spoiler to come in from Getty. Thanks for sharing your build process with the rest of us here, who remain eagerly waiting for more pics as they come

The BBS rear wheels will require a 10-15mm spacer to get the proper look. I think it would work like that too but why nor make it perfect while we're at it.

On the other hand, using a spacer will require longer studs so I might be better of replacing the outer rims with wider ones. From 3.5" to 4".
I gotta check with the guys who put the tires on these badboys, what they think, will the tire go up on the bead on a even wider rim. The rear rim would then be 13.5x18

Oh, and look what happened with the front bumper:

Juha,

The front offset on the rims is a bit critical. You want to keep them between 57mm and 50mm or the scrub radius gets screwed up. It will cause a lack of feel and consistent turn in/grip at the front. Cutting the front into is an interesting solution for fitment. I ended up cutting reliefs into the back side so it would bend enough to align with the fenders. I think what your doing will line up better just will need some good reinforcement to the joining surface.

Bob, i need the spacers for the rear, not front. My previous post was a bit misleading.
In the front i am using the same setup as the race cars had.
I think the offset of the front wheels is about 35. If i hadn't moved the hubs out, it would have been close to zero with same wheel width, which would propably havee been really bad setup.

I am not sure the wheel carrier on the RSR has an altered scrub radius from the Evo upright. I am only bringing this up since we have 3 of these cars setup in our area for GT race class and these issues have been something we all had to go through. I can ask a builder from our area that campaigned a real RSR and also has done numerous clones.

Bob, where is your general area? I'm asking because if I take my 993 to the next level I would prefer it be done by a shop/person that has done a few already.
Thanks,
/Carm
