Group Purchase on Atlas Scissor Lift
#211
Fellow midrise users....
i would like to solicit suggestions as to what support accessories you are using in addition to your lift. Something along the lines of a pole jack?
im looking to get away from bottle jacks and 'custom' wood creations, gives me a lot of anxiety. id prefer 'the right tool for the job'. Im not coming up with much when search locally as far as options... the ones i do find are way too big, used under a full rise lift.

Are you finding that your car teeters or rocks around a bit while on the lift? I have never used any additional supports nor really felt the need to up to this point with my Atlas lift. To be fair I have never done anything more major than brakes / suspension / tire rotation while on it, all of the cars have felt very stable on it.

I'd agree that custom stands aren't a bad way to go.
For engine drop, I've always used an ATV jack with a 1" ply platform bolted to it. With the trans dropped at the same time, I used a scissored transmission jack to support it. Worked well.
Truthfully, with multiple drops and multiple cars, I've really not needed accessories, other than the above.

How about one of these and trim the height down if necessary:

These supports seem to only come in the size for a full rise lift. So i bought full size one coreseller found, then shortened it to about 24". It can extend to roughly 40". Between the plate and the pipe is a large bearing race, so even while there is a load on it you can raise and lower the support.
