Looks like a winner!
If anyone wants one, please let me know. Just bear with me on timing. I need a couple of weeks after Xmas to get it all assembled and calibrated.

That's my design! I'll dig up the STL file for the sun visor clip if you're interested. It was actually pretty easy to model; if you're looking for a fun first project this is a good place to start. This was actually my first 3d print, it only took a few revisions to get it perfect. Remember, measure twice, print once
Congrats on your 3D printer Sachin, you'll love it!
Other ideas
-Phone/GPS mount
-coin holder
-fix/replacement for the ashtray that seems to have a mind of its own

One step ahead of you! I'm actually in the process of designing a quick attach/detach iPhone/iPad mini mounting system. Happy to send you a prototype when I'm done.

All possible, although I can't blend colors. I can get filament in all the primary colors though.

A complete scan and replicate is the holy grail. Not as much progress has been made on affordable 3d scanners. I'm waiting for the day when an affordable scan and print machine is available. There are however service bureaus that provide 3d scanning services.

If you mean what I think you mean, nice timing, I am getting a 3D printer very soon and my head is filled with possible 3D projects but one of my first tasks is to see if I can print bumperette pieces to improve upon my molded versions. Ideally a 3D scanner would be used (anyone?) to generate an STL that can be tweaked but suspect I'll have to fine tune a self created STL file (I use Autodesk Inventor that should output STL) until I get the curves right.
Then I'm going to 3D print bits for my other cars that have fallen off over the years - an armrest latch, a glovebox hinge, missing bodywork caps - all pieces that seem to cost more than I (my wife) think they should. Should be fun.
If you could 3D print Riviera Blue 993 Hardbacks that'd be like printing gold.
We might need an ".STL file swap" thread....

Excellent! Bumperette hole covers are also on my list. I have a slightly different design where they just snap in. I'd love to take a look at the curve geometry.

I have used SolidWorks for a many years. You should be able to 'do' organic shapes, just takes some time and experimentation.
My hope is improved materials (strength, etc..) It might be better to use Service Bureaus as they maintain the equipment (not cheap) and have a wider selection of materials to print from.
Good Luck and enjoy your new toy!!!!

Subscribed. I'm thinking of purchasing one for the business to do prototyping before sending the parts out for machining in metal.
There seems to be a big difference between the "personal" models and the "professional" models. Difference between $1-2K and $10-20K.

Burning Brakes
the curved bubbler could probably be ordered in bulk from China
Here is a good deal on a rare OEM one - save 10%
cheers
