Default opinions on window tinting?

My 993 was detailed today and I pick it up tomorrow. I was thinking of having the windows tinted as well (35% Llumar).

It's black with tan interior and I'm in Houston where it's HOT!!! and virtually every car has tinted windows. What's the general consensus on tinting on a 993?

I try to stay away from tint, however for Houston you would want it if you use the car alot. Very minimal tint however. You do not want the car to look like it belongs behind a chinese food restaurant.

I've seen a few window tint jobs on 993s and none of them looked bad to me, but I prefer the clear look.

Makes a lot of sense if you live somewhere that gets very hot. Make sure you don't go too dark because cops love to write expensive fix-it tickets for too dark tint.

"The little Bastard" looks tinted to me or is that just the light?
P.S. Love the name.

Must just be the light.

Re: the name...it's a funny thing. I named it the little bastard as my grandmother had just passed away and she used to emphatically call any person/thing she didn't like "that little bastard." Only later did I learn about the James Dean thing. Very strange!!

Many people do not like the tint ... I just moved from the Houston area ... in that climate I came to appreciate its benefits on my DD ... I think it looks good if not to dark. I now live in Colorado and have not thought about removing it or keeping it ... yet. Just my $0.02.

Just removed mine. I hated it, felt like I was in a cave.

I grew up in Minnesota where only the snowbirds (Arizona, Texas or Florida) or the gangsters had tinted windows. When I moved to Memphis in 1988, I found that tinted windows were a basic survival tactic. No tint = seared butt. Get the tint.

In my 993 I definitely appreciate my 35% tint for the reduction in glare (I'm light sensitive) and reduction in heat. Like the look, as well.

I had a clear film installed in my Cayman S that is supposed to cut heat and UV penetration but I honestly don't think it works as well as the tint. Maybe it's my imagination. (?)

If your doing it for a reason - heat, UV protection, medical reasons, ok. Otherwise, I would not do it.

Tampa has much the same climate as IAH, so this is my opinion:
