Default Embarrassing That I Don't Know This But...

Guys, I'm embarrassed to say that I've owned my 993 for 10 years but I honestly don't know if it has a limited slip differential. What is the easiest way of determining this?

You should check the options on your car: I can't remember the code (google it, it should be easy to find....).

Do a burn out. One wheel spins, not LSD both wheels spin you have a LSD.

I have a photocopy of the original bill of sale but the code number for each option is chopped off. There is one option that is described as "Pass Traction"; it was an $1,840 option. Could this be the LSD? Last two digits of the option code are 08.

I would also like to know if mine does. I read somewhere that the C4S does come with a rear limited slip. True? Not sure and the car is away for the winter so I can't do the test below.

Here is a way to check:

Okay, the interweb is ridiculously useful. Found an option decoder:

http://www.kindel.com/porsche/options/options.asp

I have a locking differential. "Option 220" on a 1995 993. But is this what was on offer or was there a true limited slip differential available?

You have to love Porsche. Other options include:

454: Automatic speed control

Cruise control optional on a $90,000 car (in 1994!).

Thanks guys for kickstarting my lazy *** to look myself.

Your car was $90k when new? You must have a high option car, mine was only $69k.

Cruise control was not optional, AFAIK. At least I have not seem a 993 without it.

As far as LSD - the LSD came with ABD - automatic brake differential. you should have a light on your dashboard (in the clock if memory serves me) for ABD. If it's there, the car has LSD as well.

Agreed.

My 95 C2 6 Speed with pleated, heated leather, sunroof, cruise and Limited slip was only $64,500.

Please note the OP is from Toronto Ontario. These cars were considerably more expensive in Canada when new. More than just the difference in currency. Same holds true today on new P-car pricing.

Correct, Canadian car. Combination of f/x and the Canadian premium brought this car to C$90K.
