993 vs 991 - A Visual Comparison.

Hey. With 12 years 993 ownership under my belt no one can accuse me of not being a 993 lover.
Imagine the white car you pictured as a 991S model with the OEM lowering kit option and some lovely AM wheels and you get this (below). No one can argue surely that that isnt a great looking car? I think the 991S is a game changer and if the picture below even hints as to what the 991 GT3 would look like in white then we are in for a treat....

Wow, that silver car is pretty!
Porsche should turn its engineering might toward lighter and smaller. Achieve the same balance, proportion, safety, and performance in a smaller package. The basic proportions of the 991 are decent enough, just scaled a bit too large.
Now one other thing that makes the newer cars pudgy looking is the fact that the hoods (or bonnets to you Brits) don't have that little indentation which introduces those slimming creases in the metal. I'm sure it was eliminated in the name of aerodynamics, but they really should figure out how to get away with it and still achieve their performance targets.

Those ADV wheels are pretty. They make the 991 look even better than in the piccture I posted. Its also lower than the one I posted.
I think ILKO's 991 is on standard (high) suspension and small wheels. His (lovely 993) is on deep dished aftermarket wheels and slammed to RS specs. Makes a big difference visually that height.
Agree re the mirrors. IMHO it was a backwards step putting them back on the door itself. Sure its more retro but whats the point three generations on from the 993...

Three Wheelin'
I thought I was aware of the size difference between the models but the photos proved me wrong. I still like film cameras over digital and vinyl over mp3s. Both most definitely not as good or convenient or fast as their modern counterparts. Oh, but the feeling of using them. Me and my feelings. That said, I have never driven a 991! That shows how valid my opinion is.
Anyway, the 991 is still a very cool car. Out of my price range though. I will stick with the Nikon F3 over the D4 for now.

Silly me.....I like both of them.
I would not put down the 991. A lot of very talented Porsche designers and engineers have created a great car.

fwiw, here are the actual specs
Category- 991 / 993
length- 176.8 / 167.7 (+ 9.1")
wheelb- 96.5 / 89.4 (+ 7.1")
width- 71.1 / 68.3 (+ 2.8")
height- 50.9 / 51.8 (- .9")
While the car may seem much bigger, when you get right down to it, its not really that much larger.
