Default Steering rack brace installed - more steering effort??

I recently installed a steering rack brace. It was a pretty straightforward install with seemingly few variables - brace and 2 bolts. I noticed afterwards steering required more effort at low speeds < 10 mph. Is this to be expected?

No. There shouldn't be any difference at all.

Nope, it's just a brace, if anything, you should have more precise steering.

Another vote for no difference. It does nothing that would change anything. I just did mine, no change at all.

You just took off only the two bolts that were needed to install it, correct? Nothing moved around?

Yes, 2 bolts removed, brace installed and longer bolts (if I recall correctly) put back in. Whole process took less than 10 mins. The only variable I can think of is how much the bolts were tightened but I don't think this should be a factor in steering effort. The steering does indeed feel more precise and at regular moving speeds is just fine but at lower parking type speeds does require some muscle when compared to a regular car. I useda brace manufactured by a fellow rennlister which actually looks a lot more sturdy than the Porsche one.

I got one of Peter's braces also. There is nothing about it that would cause more steering effort.

It could be that I just never paid attention to the steering effort before. Does your car feel like it requires significantly more effort to steer at very low speeds? Essentially I notice this only when trying to parallel park or steer out of smaller parking spot.

Strange. Go back under there and look to see if there's anything out of place or leaking.

Mine steers pretty easily at low speeds. You could have a power steering issue, and like you say, are simply noticing it now-perhaps 'cuz you were focused on the steering after adding the brace.
