Default Gilding the lily

Whilst the man is undoubtedly missed, his work certainly isn't. Talk about ruining a timeless classic.

I think it would go great with my white brokade and red Prada slip ons ...

... but seriously folks .... I actually think this car could be a great opportunity for somebody who wants to build a 993 based Speedster in the U.S. IF .. and that's a big one .. IF the Speedster unique bodywork was done correctly, for $30-35K you're getting a base chassis plus all the '94 Speedster parts .. windshield, clamshell and hinge, Top assembly, doors, working sidewindows .. and they're already mounted and adjusted to the car. That's 90% of the work .. and about 75% of the cost of conversion. The car needs new front fenders, hood and rear decklid, sills restored to stock Turbo, then stripped, repainted in a decent 993 color and re-assembled. I bet the whole thing could be done for $65K ... maybe less.

OK, my $.02...Rebuilt title and all. I agree the hood, rear deck(just something funky about that wing angle-needs a split grill naturally)and front fenders should just go. The sills are an acquired taste, as is the color. The car definately needs a ride height adjustment, and "maybe" new wheels.

Otherwise, Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?

Could be a good deal as mentioned by the gentleman above.

Certainly not Avalanche ugly.

I had the same thought. It might be an ugly bastard, but it could be a good starting point,if you were inclined towards a speedster project. Consider it a Rescue.... Porsche PETA

I agree that it has some serious potential. Split grill rear deck lid. New hood, new front fenders and OEM rocker panels and a re-paint could deliver a pretty nice 993 speedster.

I wish I had a family member that owned a body shop, I'd jump on stuff like this with regularity.

I kinda like it except for the wheels and the stance. The sills are a little much. Too bad for the title.

But the real problem is missing varioram script!

This car has been around for quite a few years, both with (but curiously not installed) Gemballa TT engine, and without. One seller even claimed that it had been baseball player Keith Hernandez's car. Since the last listing, someone installed a 993 engine and transmission of unknown origin, or quality.
IF, and it's a big if, the original "Avalanche" Gemballa work was done correctly making it a Speedster, and the Gemballa "pimping" could be undone, there is definitely potential.
Hmmm, I wonder what would it cost to send this over to 9m...

I am just not a fan of anything Gemballa, or TechArt either, as long as I'm sharing...Trying to go all modern doesn't work on the 993 shape.
