2 months with the C4S & loving it
Hi RLers:
Two months ago I jumped into Porsche ownership with both feet. The idea was to buy a 993 C4S and run it as my everyday, all year car.
This I have done. In the process, I sold my Subaru and my motorcycle( long story here) and I am now approaching 4000 miles in my second month of ownership and am just plain happy. I wanted to share my happiness because I like to read these kinds of posts. I have had a few cars and have had my ups and downs on other message boards. I learned how to keep my mouth shut and not get involved in the reindeer games. Hard lesson that.
My introduction to the board was LimeyBoy offering to RennFax the car I ended up buying. That was auspicious beginning indeed. From that point on, I have read many, many DIYs, found p-carworkshop.com, and bought a bunch of repair books and DVDs.
I wanted this ownership experience to be a little different than my others. Instead of going the modification route, I decided to sink my money into all the tools that I would need to come to grips with keeping the car on the road. I figured that in the beginning I might need a bit of help for big stuff and thus pay someone, but all the smaller stuff I could start learning to do as I have with other cars. Then hopefully I can progress to more ambitious repairs.
So to start off on the right foot, I just bought a Bend-Pak lift and air compressor. I am super excited. Putting the car up on the lift after a friend helped me get it situated and assembled was one of the happiest car moments I have had in a long while. I now can actually sit under the car and see all the projects I will be undertaking. As I am tall, it is cool to be able to roll around on a stool under the car and be comfortable while wrenching.
All this is to say thanks for the good info on Rennlist. Here are some highlight pics from my past two months with the car. I seem to carry a lot of stuff with the 911 which is a source of great amusement to my friends and other road users.
Loaded up for a trip up to Minneapolis to play hockey with a teammate.

Xavier-- Welcome aboard ... the board!
That's gotta be the best looking lumber-carrying machine I've ever seen
That's ^^ what it's all about.
I can already tell you're the kind that will use & enjoy your 993 to the fullest, & share with the rest of us.
In short, it's great having enthusiasts like you here; I have no doubt you'll make this great forum even better.
Drive safe & have fun
