Default Ferrari 360 vs Audi R8

I'm looking at adding one of these to my collection.

If you own one or owned one .... Thoughts?

Depends on what you are looking for. I haven't had an FCar but I understand that the 360 is a bit of a money pit.
R8 I had for 8 months and it was a great everyday car. Comfortable, modern, Fast, it's the DD super car. You will get a ton of attention in it.
Track it is numb. But still easy to drive. No extra cost car reliable as hell.
If 360 or R8. R8 for sure

430 or R8. I'd probably say 430 if not driven daily.

R8 - my favorite GT car for the past 10 years. I've driven the V10 version and it's divine. Audi hit it out of the park with that car.

360. Slower and less capable overall but more exciting all the way around.

R8 hands down. I heard the maintenance on 360's can be quite expensive. If you were thinking 430 or 458 then I would vote Ferrari. But those are at a different price point compared to the 360 so you are probably not considering them. Just give me a ride in what ever you buy.

R8. Better looking, and much better build quality.

I have been doing some research on Fcars lately too..... and i found that for fcars the 360 is actually pretty reliable. I was really wanting a 355 but the engine out services and amount of cash needed to drive the car over 3-5 years is insane. The 360 allows belt changes and other services without engine out services. Not to say they aren't still very expensive to maintain compared to a 911. The 430 is a step up for sure with 100 more hp but i heard they are both very reliable for fcar standards. I wouldnt DD either though. check out Ferrarichat to read up on them....

Suggest you read, "One Year With a Ferrari" by David Boxberger. An easy to read book about the 'delights' of Ferrari ownership.

It's available as an ebook for a few dollars from Amazon.

From what i gather from the book, Ferrari ownership is of the, "if you have to ask the price - you can't afford it" variety.

If you go Ferrari just make sure money is no object.

R8 is a beast, this one came up behind and we had a blast on our way up to Santa Fe.

I have driven the R8 and the 355.

Between these I'd choose the 355.

The 360 shape doesn't push my button - unfortunately.

Paging Robin Sun... Robin Sun red courtesy phone.

If Robin's F360 ownership experience is typical, you'll probably go R8.

+1. My Ferrari friend who owns a 360 tells me that the 360 is one of the most reliable and inexpensive to own of the modern Ferraris. The 355 and 348 that came before it are money pits but the 360 is much less expensive (but still expensive by any measure). His experience has been all positive so far.

I don't care for the R8's styling at all. I'd opt for the 360 if I had the dough.

Dave,

Go to RAC and talk to Jonathan Peck. I believe they have both in stock and you can test them back-to-back. Jonathan is a good guy to know.
