Opinions Wanted on This 993
I am new to the 993 and thinking of acquiring this car locally. I do not know the owner but the mechanic is known and he also does the set up on my track car. His opinion is the car is well maintained by the current owner.

What do you 993 guys think about the car and the price asked? Appreciate the feedback.

seems very fairly priced. Still at stock ride height, so the suspension probably needs replacement unless records indicate VERY recent oem replacements.
Coming up on 90K service, so factor a little money there also. Gonna want to look at the records, talk to the mechanic about any big ticket items, etc-clutch, suspension, definately get a PPI ...unless you have trust in the mechanic.
If you trust him, and he says it's a good car, having maintained it...and it's an acceptable color combo for you...go get it.
Good Luck!

I don't have a 993 myself, but may be looking to buy one when I upgrade from the Boxster. And that particular car would instantly merit a call, looks like exactly what I would be looking for and at the right price. Good luck!

Thanks
That is a quick response! So new shocks and lower a bit would likely be something to do right away I think. Good advice. I will get the mechanic to estimate a 90K service. It may have already been done.

Agree - the rear centre reflector looks odd. More opaque than it should be. Would want to see that in daylight. Might just be the photo.
Also, is the odometer straight? May be nothing, but since you're asking.
Get a PPI, and for what its worth check our the car fax for anything odd. IMO, you should get the PPI done by another mechanic, not the one who normally wrenches it.

I agree with everyone above. As for the 90k service, you may want to DIY since it isnt that tough if you are mechanical. Plus it will give you more time to have your hands on that beauty! If all checks out I would TRY to get it for 27k but if not, the 29 is very fair. I have a friend locally that will be selling his 95, red/black 993 soon. Similar miles, new PSS10 bilstein coilovers etc. He will be asking similar money for it. Email me if interested.
Here is another one I just stumbled across from a rennlister.

More Information
I just spoke to my mechanic who has worked on this car for the past two years and here is what he told me:
1) 90K Service done 10/2011 $1400
2) New Rotors and Pads Front and Rear 01/2012 $900
3) New Battery
4) AC Vacuum lines replaced 01/2012
5) Needs air bag ECU sending unit and this is being done tomorrow
So mechanically, this car is good to go. First owner sold at 5000 miles to second owner. Second owner in Texas sold to the current owner 08/2004 with 30,000 miles. This car is a daily driver for the current owner who is selling this to buy a Cayman S. Current owner has had 6 911s over the years and according to my mechanic always taking care of the car as required.
From 2004 to 2010, another Porsche mechanic worked on the car but retired in 2010. I know this mechanic as he had also done work on my cars as well. That mechanic was actually involved in the purchase with the current owner, so I know for sure it has been properly maintained. Current Owner has Cert of Authority and all records since new so I will check that out with respect to any possible clutch issues. I am told that is a 14 hour replacement and $800 for the clutch.
Based on the trend of the 993 pricing, it would appear the value of this car may stay level or increase, so I am thinkg what the heck! And I am finding the 993 forum to be quite enjoyable. Thanks again for the comments and I will be checking this car out.

Based on your latest post Alex, the car is a very strong candidate and considering all the work that's already done to it the price is very good! For your sake I hope no other prospective buyers are reading this thread now
