I had a 1995 993 a few years ago that wouldnt rev over about 5k. Turns out it was a clogged cat. A newer cat made a HUGE difference! Anyway, I agree that with the age and the mileage some of us will benefit just because it is new. You have an email. Hopefully oficially on the list. If it is too loud Ill change my stage 2's for stage 1's

I made a custom exhaust setup from my race headers to 200 cell fabspeed cats to factory mufflers. It's very similar to this except there are no U bends (right header went to left muffler and vice versa). It's plenty loud, especially during WOT. But I do wonder what it would sound like with stage I or II since its doesnt snarl/pop anymore like it did with my other setup of header to center muffler setup at low RPMS.

How does a 16 year old stock cat look compared to new? When Joe Fab gave me a tour of Fabspeed he showed me a stock 993 cat and it looked pretty tight compared to the 200 cell that you could see through. Power or not it can't hurt to upgrade.

Also note these are not x-pipes. They keep both exhaust banks seperate. I think this will be beneficial as the x-pipe was developed for the odd firing of most V8s. The H6 is an even firing engine, so it does not have 2 cylinders firing consecutively on the same side of the block like a V8, which creates a higher pressure condition on one side. The x-pipe was designed to allow some of that higher pressure to escape thru the other exhaust outlet, helping to lower the higher pressure condition. This does not occur on an H6 engine.
Cheers,
Mike

I can tell you that on my old 95 993, the cat was almost totally clogged at 80k. This is primarily due to the fact the car as only driven in the city in short amounts and never really wrung out. As I mentioned earlier, it wouldnt pull over 5k. I bought a 35k mile cat from a friend and it made a HUGE difference. With the age and mileage of my car (78k), Im sure it will make a big difference

Nice build. Love the stainless, the welds and Marman clamps, thank you Zeppo Marx.
Personally, I would like to have the whole thing unpolished - less likely to attract a visual inspection failure here in CA.

I had the same concern when I got my DACH sport cats. The timing happened to work out so they were on the car over a year before my next smog check, so they had a nice patina and didn't look brand new. It probably only takes a few months to look like it has been there a long time.

I will probably get mine ceramic coated titanium color like my mufflers. Should make it invisible. Luckily, I dont need to worry about that here.
