Default A 993 caught fire in HK

Just read from the newspapers here in HK that a 1994 cab caught fire. It came out from the headunit.....

I am still looking for the news coverage in English and will post it up here once I've found it.

I would have thought it a random fire would have been a faulty non-recalled engine loom.......

burtraccoon, i would have thought so too. or the wiring harness. makes me wonder if it's safer for a 993 owner/driver to get a fire extinguisher and keep it in the car....

Convertible with a sunroof. That's nice.

Unfortunately, this car looks familiar from previous pics. I'm thinking it might be a Rennlister's car.

Owner seems to be someone called Simon Burch - ring any bells?

No, not really. Most of us know each other here by the dog tags that we created for ourselves.

No, Terence, I remember yours Same Aventurine as my first one, right?

This one is a pretty unusual color, easy to remember.

a shoddy work installing an aftermarket sound system or alarm may also be a culprit of the fire.

Saw the news from other paper. The color should be black.

Nile: yes mine is Av. Green.

uh, oh...really? I know a Simon Birch....

I think I have seen that car before in the SoHo area during weekdays. Saw a similar looking basalt black car with black twists and red brakes last week...can't tell from the pic the exact color.

I carry a small one in the car; for a major gas or oil fire it won't do anything except buy time, but for a small electrical fire it could make the difference. Time for you to add to your shopping list!

Have had a 5lb. extinguisher attached to a Brey-Krause mount on the front passenger seat - since my first DE - umm, within a year of buying the car (7 years ago.)

When I give people lifts, they always ask (with some trepidation): "Are you expecting your car to go on fire?"

My answer: "No, I'm waiting to save a Ferrari."

:-)
