Question Alignment in SF Bay area (Peninsula)?

Hi guys,

Thanks to Darin, I'll soon be riding around on fresh bilstein hd + mo33!
It'll need to be aligned. I'm wondering if any of you can recommend me a place on the peninsula specifically, near San Mateo would be even better. I've been to carrera motors in San Mateo, not sure if they do alignment but I was chatting with them last time, nice guys, but they don't seem to be too comfortable with non-stock suspension Anyway, thanks in advance

If San Jose isn't too far for you, you might try Borelli Motorsports in San Jose. Ask for Dave Graff. He's done the alignment twice on mine, once when I first bought the car stock, and then after I had Bilsteins and Walrod bushings installed.

Tony Colicchio @ TC Design in Milpitas. Actually, his brother Joe might actually do the alignment, as Tony concentrates more on the fabrication work now.

Dave Graff at Borelli Motorsports.

As I understand it, Dave was the Porsche go-to at Custom Alignment for many years.

You will be impressed.

if you want to stay a bit more local, give the guys over at The Shop San Bruno a call. I have all of my work done by them and I've always been very happy with their workmanship. If you are concerned about working on vehicles with aftermarket suspensions, this is the place to go. www.theshopsanbruno.com call and ask for Matt.

Adam and Bogey are great guys but don't do alignment work.

VERY important that you get to someone who has worked on 993s as the alignments are tricky and the car is very sensitive to misalignment. I know this from experience - I ended up going to Roger Kraus Racing in the East Bay (a big PITA) after my former "Porsche" shop fouled up my HD install.

Custom alignment is good and pretty close.

You know you should put a week or two of driving on the car to let the suspension settle before the alignment, right?

Honestly I had no idea. But thanks to Rennlist, I'm learning from you guys everyday. I thought I read a billion threads on suspensions already but I somehow didn't catch that
ummm, may I then ask. Is there anything else I should be doing or know? any particular way to drive to properly "settle" the suspension, like go on a bumpy road or stay off bumpy road or go straight into the twisties

just drive it normally and wait for the suspension to settle at its correct height. Unless the suspension was purchased used, it should settle within a day or two.

I recommend Custom Alignment in Mtn View. Went to them 7 years ago, haven't been back since because my 993TT still tracks in a straight line(no hands) and feels neutral after all this time. Will go back to them if I need an alignment for sure.

I didn't know that one needs a day or two of driving to let the new suspension settle. After recent installation of Bilstein HD's and M030 springs, I brought my car straight to alignment. Does this mean I need to now bring the car back for alignment? Thanks.

Hard to know - maybe discuss it with them and see if they would put it back on the machine for you and see if it was still in spec?
