So how much are you asking for the car?
I am kidding, I am kidding!! Those issues are normal wear and tear... relax! Fix and continue to enjoy your car.

I beg to differ. People go and buy a new car because it is "easy"....no maintenance, no deciphering the whim of the German engineer when debugging issues, no long nights in the garage busting knuckles chasing that dropped bolt deep in the bowels of the flat-6, none of that commitment to keeping these rolling art displays alive and well.
ps. Quad, your occasional role as "Board Curmudgeon" is actually appreciated and is a good counter point & reality check to the "aren't these the most awesome cars ever made and nothing is nor ever will be better" folks.
Its just a car after all. If he's having problems, there is no shame in selling, and I don't like how everybody tries to persuade people into keeping cars they may not want.

I am feeling the love, lads. And laughing my *** off, besides! Thanks.
Turns out that the shaft broke in the rebuilt alternator I had installed last month. Got another one replaced free of charge today. The whole gang at German Car Repair here in Roswell, GA is top notch.
As for the tires, I am hoist by my own petard here because I buy those cheap Sumi HTZ II's which are discontinued. I like 'em better than the III's because they last longer for me - that is, until one blows out on the road...funny thing, the replacement tire I got carried an October 2011 date stamp on it, so it doesn't seem that discontinued to me...
...and that girl was smokin' hot, wasn't she?
Thanks again, everyone. I've backed away from the ledge...

I experienced a moment of weakness a few years ago and bought a Civic. I just wanted simplicity. It was a great car - but nothing more. It got me from A to B withoout drama. it was reliable and cheap. It had the demeaner of a sewing machine.
I love the 993. It has been reliable and I smile every time I drive it - especially with the top down. She enjoys going topless.
And I absolutely love walking up behind her and admiring that lowered rear end. Not a J Lo rear end of an S, more like a Cameron Diaz bum.
And if that wasn't enough, I am thrilled that I am not experiencing the deprieciation of a newer car.
What more could you want? Yeah, ok, a working alternator.
