I sense a gradual but definite change in the demographics on the 993 thread. So, let's see......

Lusted after one ever since I rode around in my Dad's (and occasionally drove it) when I was in junior high and high school. Bought one the second I could! 28 years old and very much addicted.

Got the 4S when I was 42, the yellow car when I was 45. But since I got the first of the bunch (a '68 911 in 1980 when I was 18), it's just been kind of an evolution through pretty much every variant of an air cooled over the past 32 years.

To put it in some kind of perspective, I never had a more than $15K 911 until I was getting married in '98 and a '92 C4 dropped in my lap for $27K. That was stupid money for a car, and honestly I don't get how anyone buys one of these things if you're tying up more than ~5% of your net worth. I stretched myself really thin at some points in my 20s and early 30s, but I guess I justified it in needing some kind of "trophy" when I ran my shops.

I was lucky and got my c4s when I was 24. Though I was and am still relatively young, I still have huge respect for old porches and am in love with any 993.

Yea Steve,........feels like we are ancient history! My first P-car was an early 356 coupe (fixer upper) that I bought, excuse me traded for a working Austin Healy Sprite when I was stationed at NAS Alameda in the bay area back in 1970. Couldn't resist the deal. There was also an early 911 that I bought, restored or should say fixed way back when. How time flies by! I have had my 97 993 since 2002 and was part of this board back when I purchased the car, and officially joined back in 2004.

31. I haven't owned one yet, but am looking for one as I have been a fan for some time. It's not easy to find a gd conditioned one in hk, and one that has the right feel...
