I think you should have to be at least a certain age to own a 911. Wahhh. I feel so underpriveleged, lol. Sure, I do. Got the blue one when I was 40 and the green one a little over a month ago (42 for a few more months!!!). I have never bought a car on payments, so maybe that is why I waited until a little later to buy my dream car(s). I would not kick a newer 911 out of my garage, but the 993 has been the perfect car for me, warts and all, since its inception in 1995 (technically, late 1994, but that's another issue, lol). It has all the goodies I can deal with, but with the older generation's charm. Perfect.

Always owned exotics, but didn't like the 911 growing up. Rear engine? Air cooled? Then after retiring last year, moving to CA, thought I would revisit the Porsche. After a lot of research, the 993 was the way to go. I now regret not having bought one years ago.

Well, I got lucky. I work my **** off, and I don't take my upbringing for granted by any means, but I was lucky enough to inherit my '95 from my dad. Otherwise, no chance I'd be able to afford this car with starting my own business out of college. He raised me from day 1 to be a car nut, my first book was the Bearnstain Bears going open wheel racing, and I put together probably 50+ car models before I could ride a bike. I've been here for quite a while soaking up the knowledge.
I still remember the day I walked up the driveway in late '95, at 9 years old, clutching the Road & Track with the Arena Red 993TT on the cover. It was charred into my brain over months of leafing through the article, over and over.
The 993 has been in the family for almost 11 years. My dad got his 996 in '04 or so, so I drove the 993 some in my teens. What a punk! Went to college and it sat for quite a while. Once I graduated, I started my business dismantling 928s, and I couldn't initally afford to take care of the deferred maintenance on the car--that, plus I didn't have the time. It sat in my shop, driven occasionally, but I haven't driven it a single time since the alternator bit the dust about 18 months ago. Since then, I've been saving pennies to afford to get the car up-to-date on maintenance and build it into a unique little hot rod.
I'll be 26 this fall. I've learned a lot about building cars through past projects, so this is my "crowning achievement," at least at this point in my life. I just moved out of my shop, closed down the 928 business to head in a new direction (wrenching on your own projects loses its luster when you wrench all day), and just got my computer back up and running. The build is about 3/4 complete, so stop by my build thread here when you see it go up--I'll have it up in the next week or two.

Bought my first sportscar the same year -- a clapped out '62 Alfa Guilia spyder.
Sold when I got married and bought a Capri V-6, the poor man's 2002tii.
Got a Healey BN-7 in '84. Sold that for a new '87 951 - a car devoid of English electrics, and actually fast.
Then a new 993 cab in '97, a Boxster for the missus and kids in '99, then a used 993 coupe in 2000. Sold the chicster in '01 cause no one was driving it. Bought the 944S2 in '03 cause it would be cheaper than racing with Skip - boy was that a miscalculation. Took my first hit on the Hoosier crack pipe in '05. Have been broke ever since. So anyone who never took the new math, knows I still have three.
