Yep. I came to that conclusion years ago. The stock location is best. But I've been driving my Porsches around Denver for over 8 years without any front plates, and despite having been stopped by cops about twice a year on average for speeding, only one of those times did a cop ever mentioned the missing plate and he didn't even give me a ticket. If it means I can go plate-free, I'd gladly pay a $25 fine every once in a while.

It's a slight modification to Mike J's concept, except it utilizes a frameless style license plate bracket. Essentially creating no visible holes in the plate.
