If the silver part is not painted a little solvent on a Q-tip rubbed on the high spots will leave the red letters below.
Use the side of the Q-tip. Like you would use the side of a pencil to reveal the indented marks in a pad of paper. CSI style.

I'd start with mineral spirits and work up to more aggressive solvents. Lacquer thinner, acetone, etc...

Nope got the same thing on my C4S, it's factory. It's real CF.
