HELP Control Arm Bushing Replacement...Broken Pieces!!!
So I went to replace my front control arm bushings this past weekend and now the car is siting on jack stands. Anyways I ended up breaking the metal piece that slides through the bushing and also acts as an end cap. The bushings I bought from FD Motorsports do not come with new metal components. I do not believe these can even be ordered from Porsche.
My question is does anyone sell the bushings with new metal pieces included???
Please help me from spending $900 on brand new control arms!
Any input is appreciated.
Chris

Chris,
Post a pic - but I'm guessing that one of the 'end caps' popped off the inner sleeve.
If that's the case, send the pieces to me and I'll send a perfect one to you.

Chris. I assume you bought the Walrod bushings from FD which require you to remove the steel top hats by heating with a blow torch and using them in the Walrod bushings.
New rubber bushings with the top hats installed are available from a number of sellers for $70-$80 per side.
Have you been back in touch with Darin at FD? I'd be very surprised if he could not steer you in the right direction.

I went through this a couple of months ago and am guessing I did the same exact thing you are going through. If you did indeed just pop one of the "caps" or "Hats" off of one of the rear bushings (It effectively looks like a washer) don't worry you are fine. You should be able to tap it back into place over the machined sleeved it came off of, then for good measure I peened it a bit to keep it in place even though it obviously isn't going anywhere once reinstalled. Clean everything up with a wire wheel of brush before putting it back together.

Found the two pics I sent to Chris Walrod, if this looks like your issue don't sweat it, easy fix since it was a press fit to begin with:

Yes that is it. I lost one of the end pieces I am so pissed about it. So I am missing one cap as seen in the 2nd picture above.
Any advice on what I should do.

I have never seen that before - you must of either had a weak one or hit it hard. I use a very hot torch and they usually just pull out, sort of like a knife in butter. This is not a part you can buy separately from Porsche - perhaps you can find a broken arm at one of the wreckers? They may have a car that was hit on the front end where the A arms are broken, the these bushings are fine.
Best of luck!

Mike

Left and right lower arms on ebay right now for $49.99 + $15 shipping each. Item #s 350563799870 and 270973180313. That's probably as cheap as you're going to find just the bushing?
