Seriously, if you won the $640 mill in the Megamillions would you keep your 993?

I wouldn't sell the 993, but honestly, with that kind of money, I would be traveling so much, I don't know how much I would drive.

How much would it cost to buy a decommissioned aircraft carrier, turn it into a private yacht with an indoor track on the hanger deck? (gotta keep the flight deck clear for my planes to land)...probably have to win the lottery a couple of times.

Would I keep my 993(s) if I won that kind of scratch? Most definitely. They would have more cars to share space with in my new mega-garage however. Porsche section, Ferrari section, Lambo section......or should I group them by era? Decisions, decisions.

Heck yes, and I'd ship it back to the factory for a full "Porsche Classic" refreshening in it's own palletized shipping container in it's privately owned 777 amongst other things.

That one purchase alone would take a major chunk out of your winnings.

Its easy to understand why million dollar lottery winners are broke within two years. Hey, maybe they should run for a government position; they'd fit right in.

Oh to dream...

For me: of course keep the 993, but do a complete restoration. Then, add Singer Porsche, McLaren F1, vintage Mini Cooper S, vintage Shelby Mustang GT350, maybe Aston Martin Vantage.

For wife: 1959 BMW 507, and whatever else she wanted.

And of course, huge garage to keep and work on them all!!!!

Might be a few other things, too...

IF I won the lottery and IF I was single (which I certainly wouldn't want to be, Sweetheart, but just in case) I would:

1) Build a 40 car garage.
2) Buy the best 993 Turbo S I could find and send it to RUF or Singer.
3) Start acquiring some other cars and motorcycles.
4) Hire a great mechanic.
and last, but most certainly not least,
5) Have a couple of beautiful car wash girls to lavish attention on the equipment after every drive.

I would ship the 993 over to Porsche Classic & have them go through the whole car then add a few options.

After that I would build a big barn, & fill it with...
1. 959
2. 550
3. 365 Speedster
4. 911 RS
5. GT1
6. GT2 RS 997
8. 964 3.6 Turbo S
9 993 Tubo S
10. SINGER!
what ever else bites me.

Chances are it's never going to happen, so I'll just live in my dream.

No way it gets sold. Only fixed up a bit more. Then there'd be a sister. Similar, but full track toy.

As has been alluded to above, the fastest way from rich to poor is a spending habit. The $640M isn't that much if taken lump sum, and for about $270M for the 777 mentioned above, you're nearly done. Ok, so you've got only a $100M left to live on....

the question seems odd: you only sell because you need money...if you have 640M $ you wouldn't need to sell anything! ...just keep everything in your palace with its underground parking garage.

Now if i lost half of my money or my job, then the question would be more interesting...

I would be just like Jay Leno, in terms of a car collection, but be unemployed.

$640M / 3 winners = $213M
- .35 income tax + .096 CA state income tax
= $95 to $114M depending on how much state income tax you pay.

Although I know folks with a 9 figure net worth, I'd probably panic and freakout if I suddenly became entitled to large sums of money. I'd pay taxes first then make sure my parents and brothers are set for life. Then I'd simply log on to ebay to buy my very first Porsche 993 without any worries. Rest of the prize I'll share and invest w my spouse while we raise a family. What a bore I've become lately :/
