Hi Joe, I was wondering if I would bump into you here.
I'm glad to see your 993 is going strong. You'll be glad to know that the M is not gone forever. The panels are all still straight - frame got a little tweaked on the front passenger side and both bumpers were shredded. Undercarriage was mostly undamaged. My friend bought the salvage and it's an easy job for him to bring her back to her former glory. I drove it like I stole it for 6 years and she still turned heads everywhere we went - she was a beauty.
I won't let my brother touch my son's little red wagon, let alone one of my cars ever again.
I'm coming down that way next month to pick up my daughters new E30 318ic. Maybe I can swing by on my drive north? I'll PM you.

Well, I am now a 993 owner!
I was fully prepared to search far and wide for months in order to find the right car, but I got lucky and found it in my backyard (so to speak).
It's a local one owner 1995 C4 with 81,000 on the clock. The original owner took very good care of it and provided me with all records for the car since he bought it new - window sticker, bill of sale, all maintenance records, manuals, etc. She's all original with no modifications or aftermarket parts - except for the Alpine head unit that I'm going to get rid of.
I'm still pinching myself and sit in the garage and look at it longer than I should - I'm sure you can relate. Like many of you, I have always wanted a 911 and I'm so glad I didn't go for a water-cooled Porsche. They're very nice cars, but they're not the same.
It's a dream come true for me!
And here's my old car. Big shoes to fill, but I really love my 993...

Welcome aboard. I had a couple of Boxsters from 1999 through January this year. No IMS problems, virtually turnkey cars. I loved them, but once the 993 bug bit me, it was auf wiedersehn.
Love the 993. It's the best of the real Porsches.

The picture was taken at my mom's house on Bainbridge Island. 2006 for the BMW and 2012 for the Porsche - both in the Spring. I have no thoughts about 2018 yet...
I have a friend who owns an import repair shop and I let him purchase the BMW's salvage title at my cost. He has already straightened the frame and smogged the car. It went to a good home (I couldn't fathom letting the insurance company auction it off).

I agree with everyone's comments about the 993.
I tell people it is the most perfect 911 - it has the best elements of the classic 911's with the benefits of modern technology (rust protection, electronic engine management, etc.). In my opinion, it's the pinnacle of the 911 line.

Congrats on the car
I have had mine for a month now and I still go out to the garage (under the guise of taking out the garbage) and gaze at it. What a timeless work of art. I am sure you will enjoy it. I also drove the 997s and had the same impressions you did. I went to my local PCA event on Saturday, they had 991s to 914s in the parking lot and mine was the only 993. It was my favorite car in the lot, hands down. Best of luck with your new ride.
