Default PAID!

Finally got the title for our 993 C2S today after paying it off a few weeks ago.

'Tis a great feeling being debt free...(Except for Mortgage and STOOOOPID Student loans)

Tempted to go out and get my wife something she "deserves" but is still in love with her Fiat 500.

Maybe a early 70s 911 "driver" is in order. Thoughts?

The days you pay off your car, your student loan, mortgage, or become a millionaire are days to sit back and reflect on your accomplishment.

Be the driver, not the passenger. (pun intended) Unless you can pay cash for what she "deserves", its not worth getting back in line with the masses.

Paid for mine the day I bought it.

I can see taking a loan for a house and the first car coming out of school. Toys and vacations are not things I would take a loan for.

+1. I only pay cash for toys, cers etc. Just paid for my C4S this way. Now if you are looking for a longhood, let me know. Mine is for sale but it is considerably more than a driver.

Congrats for getting the car paid for!!

Why do people feel compelled to share that "I paid cash for mine" on threads like these? Good for you guys! That's not what this thread is about. Props to the original poster, I recognize the accomplishment.

well, to be fair, i think most people would enjoy the finer things...but no one is really entitled to them.

If you take the loan and can easily pay it back, then its not really an issue, but if it eats up a significant portion of your income, perhaps priorities need rearranging.

Sweet coincidence, just got my title through today now the loan is paid off. Feels good, as you say. I also have a late 60's early 70's itch (I have tons of car itches I will one day scratch) but I'd need a loan for a bigger garage first!

Now if the rest of America will pay their debt... We will all be in good shape!

Ollie, as much as I enjoy your contrarian point of view on a variety of issues, since you're a trust fund kid, I'd say you're the last person I'd listen to about earning things on one's own or advice about self-sufficiency

Well at least GM paid off their debt in record time...really, they did.

Maybe we should ship them over to fix the European Debt Crisis

Well, yes and no.

I'd imagine it's fairly easy to pay back new debt when you get bailed out, file bankruptcy that cancels out all your billions of former obligations, and leave millions of people holding the bag for one's legacy of blunders and incompetence.

I think the bailouts were the only option, but the only reason GM was able to pay back it's current debt was because of their sugar daddy, Uncle Sam, not because GM has made good financial decisions (or cars) over the past several decades that allowed it to pay back it's current debt...

GM and the American car companies are starting to make great products again. Only because they have to, not because they would, left to their own devices.
