Default 993 Launch Party....

OK, so they actually had the cloak over the new 991, which confused me Seriously, I had the honor of representing the 993 owners at the local dealership launch of the 991. It was a nice event, large crowd (free food and wine) and a lot of fun. I was impressed by the 991, I got to take out the Carrera S for about an hour yesterday, really enjoyed it. 'Sport' mode was outrageous. I would have to keep my 993, but would love to own a 991 (duh). Here are some pics....

I haven't been keeping up with 991 photos, but why is there a book written on it's butt?

There was a 991 launch here in Nashville and the dealership had the same thing going on. They wanted every year 911 represented. My car was the 993 showcased. I was out of town for the event, but 993BillW and E3photo came over to the house and took my car down to the dealer. They also wiped it down for me. Bill was supposed to get pics of the event posted. Bill?

Hang in there, the 7-speed manual is coming, with Formula 1 shift pattern! (I made up the shift pattern part, just sounded cool)

And that's the short version, with the de-badge option to remove "made in Zuffenhausen"

^^^I think your car looked as good or anything better there. Just right!

I was at a dealer in the Detroit area today and saw the Cayman R. Seems more of the Porsche of old...a bit of what the older 911/993s used to be. Maybe they should keep driving the 911 upmarket for the older/monied and comfort oriented. Then, they could sharpen the Cayman and Boxters with more power and allow the younger more driver oriented demographic have a car more suited to them.

great shots Paul, thanks!

wish I coulda made it...

funny that they took the rear apart so people could get a glimpse of the engine

Cool how so many of the 993s here were used in the launch events. I hear there may be others... looking forward to more pix!

Default 991 Launch Party at Porsche of Nashville

OK, I didn't mean to hijack Paul's thread, I meant to start a new thread but I screwed up..... Sorry Paul!

Mike's Rivi Blue Cab was the featured 993. I got there early in case they wanted to put the top down (they didn't) so I have several photos with not many people there. Enjoy...

The reason the GT3RS 4.0 was not inside is because it was being driven that night. I think the same gentleman now owns the CGT.....

I am totally in love with the 991, Cayman R, Boxster Spyder, and Cayenne Turbo S. Everyone keeps bashing away but no cars will ever again be like they were in the "old days". Having a 993 and a 991 would be like having your cake and eating it too

Wow - both the 993's here look fantastic in the showrooms! Fantastic...

Can you comment on the removed rear bumper in the original post? How complicated was it to remove from the car, and why??

(I assume to demonstrate maintenance proceedures??)

Agreed! Especially the Cayman R, that would be right at home in my garage.

Mainly to show the engine and the bumper needs to be removed (40k miles) to change the engine air filter.

Mine has too many DD marks to put in a show! I would be embarrassed.

It was really just to show off the technology. After the unveiling in the showroom, they had another 991 on a lift in the shop, wheels off, rear bumper, fans, shrouds pulled off so everyone could get a nice look. It was very popular, lots of folks hung out in the shop and there was a nice pitch by their lead mechanic.
