993 Launch Party....

yes, the sound of the 993 door is cool and very mechanical.
The driving experience of the 991 is nothing like a toyota. silly comment there.

Totally agree, I thrashed it around in 'Sport' mode and for sure the 991 is an extreme performance sports car. PDK in manual mode, shifting near redline, I was at 120mph so fast it was scary. The handling was even better, bring on the corners. I have just as much 'fun' driving my 993, but it seems to me that given the same professional driver, it would be several seconds a lap slower. I would not give up my 993, I can still feel a direct connection to old Dr. Ferdinand and his son when I drive it! All their new models are amazing but that connection is long gone, nothing wrong with that

I'd only heard about the Stevens Creek one a few weeks ago. (Not that I'd ever be on any invite list from a Porsche dealer for anything...........) Great to see your car in there. Oh, and at least a little bit of one of mine (as I glance out the door into the yard and see the carcass of the RSA it came from). Puts the new cars to shame, especially when you factor in price. 5-7 years from now it will be interesting to see what the '12s go for. Or will we avoid them because of an engine du jour issue??????
Friend of mine got his perfect '80 SC in the Scottsdale "show" a few weeks ago. Dealer down there didn't even know where they could get a longhood to show--he had to find one for them!

Paul - your car looks superb in the showroom... Must have received more than its fair share of attention from admiring eyes.
With the same type of events happening at dealerships across the country, I wonder how many people saw and studied the 993 in detail for the first time & left wanting one.

Great thread! Wish I'd gone to the local event now...
Very true.

Thanks. Lavery had their own showing but I did not attend that one, even though I live in Birmingham. This was from Porsche of the Motor City in Eastpointe, MI, a brand new dealership built last June.
