Paul, your car is still my #1 favorite 993 ever. Love it, I dream about it. I got issues.

Anyway, I love the 991. I will have to wait a few years and let someone take the depreciation hit, but its officially on the list.

Thanks for posting!

Agreed. Change is inevitable. I'm having a helluva time finding betamax movies to rent.

With that said I am still in the hunt for a 993 Black on Tan Widebody......

Our local 991 preview is Sat. Im trying to keep an open mind. I can say this this dealer has incredible parties! As for wanting one in my garage...we will need to see. I have had a few later porsches in the garage and really dont want another one....Maybe a Cayanne GTS but thats it. Maybe this will make me want a 991. Gotta go back to the garage and look at my 993.....

+1
this dealer is really cool about showing off the engineering

We went to a thing a while back... Was it the Panamera launch? I think... anyhow, they had a couple of cars on lifts, underpanels removed. Neat stuff.

All in all, a great dealership to deal with, in my experience.

Paul and I even got to park inside
(I miss my turbo... )

Couldn't agree more. Nothing is going to replace the 993, but they have a great line up of cars out there. I was in the dealer today, and everything above was represented and more. The 991 does not take away from the 997 either, just a nice progression, almost gives the 997 a little more of a classic look.

At our dealership (JPA Nashville or Porsche of Nashville whichever name you want to use) once a year they have a Tech Session. Several of the technicians will have a few cars on the lifts and will usually have a presentation along with a question and answer session. It's one of our more popular PCA events.

About 2 yrs. ago the old dealership (Thoroughbred Motorcars) was bought out by Sonic. T.bred wouldn't give the PCA club the time of day, we tried so many times to get them involved but they just ignored us. After Sonic took over the dealership has done a 180, they are very helpful and accommodating and are active participants in many club functions.

Now if I could only get them to start providing demo cars to the board of directors......

I was at a dealer in the Detroit area today and saw the Cayman R. Seems more of the Porsche of old...a bit of what the older 911/993s used to be. Maybe they should keep driving the 911 upmarket for the older/monied and comfort oriented. Then, they could sharpen the Cayman and Boxters with more power and allow the younger more driver oriented demographic have a car more suited to them.
I'm on the same page here with you.

+1 That's about the only one that would get me to The Dark Side, although I'm reserving final judgment until the new Targa shows up--I really liked that roll bar/half roof idea ever since I had one.

Close your eyes. Open and close the door of the 991. It could be a Toyota, a BMW, any car really.
Now close your eyes and open and close the door of a 993. It can't be mistaken for anything but a Porsche.

Same thing goes for the driving experience.
