Default World's most expensive 993 wash?

You'd think that he'd at least pop out the headlights if he's going to spend that much time.

Well since it takes all of about 10 seconds to remove the headlight assembly in a 993 he clearly couldn't spare the time after his several weeks of polishing...

PT Barnum's famous line came to mind after seeing the video.

i have had a 4-day detail on my last 993, my Guards Red C2S. The car came back better than new, and got lots of compliments. Felt like driving it off the lot too. Loved it. Expensive though. I dont even want to know what this costs....

NO WAY should any kind of detail take that long, unless you are disassembling the car for a concours. Even then I can't imagine taking this long.

2 stage wet sand? NO WAY unless your car is really messed up, even so. That takes a day to do.

For this time involved, the engine should be dropped, the interior interior removed, every part on the body taken off, like wipes, badges, all lights, washer nozzles, etc.. Even so I would have the car done in a couple of weeks. Even took the trunk all apart. IMHO, the most work is getting the wheel wells 100%, everything else is cake after.

I have spent about 80+ hours on my C4S for a concours, as said, everything that can come off/out easily was. Same for the engine bay, I removed everything that was accessible. I did a 2 stage polish (unless your car is messed up it will fix it). Inside we extracted the carpets, 3 stage leather clean/condition.

80% of the time was my all alone.

I bet he charges well over $5000 for this service as well.

Umm, yeah. Takes what, all of 9 seconds per side?

Odd.

A lot less time than taping them off, that's for sure.

And $7000 buys a LOT of crack, which is what I assume he's smoking.

Wouldn't it suck if you hit a puddle right after?

No way would I ever pay such a ridiculous price for a detail. In Dubai we have every high end car known to man and even then the rates aren't that much for pristine details. Someone's having a laugh...

I bet he charges by the hour, not by the job...... does he give credit to how much he thinned out the clear coat by oversanding and polishing?

Actually, that's my baby :-)

Gurcharn did an awesome job "correcting" the paintwork, removing the swirls. He had the Porsche for about 36 hours in all, and believe me, the cost was very substantially less than the GBP 7,000 quoted in the YouTube description. I guess he charges that sort of money in exceptional circumstances when he's working for an extended period on an extraordinary vehicle, like a McLaren. He certainly seemed to know many of the stars from the Birmingham soccer teams, and their sports cars ;-)

The funny thing was, there was a national newspaper story about him the day I dropped it off, so he was fielding phone calls for 24 hours, and the film crew came around the following day...

Neither would I. Besides, why would I pay for a service that I enjoy doing myself and where I'd do a better job as well.

I personally would not pay someone to work on any of my cars or motorcycles.

I have no doubt your car looked great after!

What was the condition before you dropped it off? Was the paint really scratched & swirled? Does he wet sand every car?

36 hours seems more on par with what it should take to do a very through detail. Even for this level he should have removed more from the car. hopefully he taped the lens & badges so they didn't get any sandpaper marks. Around here that level of detail would be $1800-2600.

I'll do a RL group discount, 3 RL'er cars for $7000!!
