Cost of Covered Transport
Am working on covered shipping a 96 C4S from RI to OH. About 800 miles. First quote came in at $1200. Now this includes the addition of a second set of wheels (not stored inside car). Haven't been able to talk yet with shipping company to see what it would be without the second set of wheels (can use UPS for that part).
What do you guys think? I remember a few months ago looking at quotes and thought 700-800 more in line....

GEtting a car from RI too...I have a friend who knows a good company. Maybe we can get a group buy to the midwest! When are you shipping and what city? Mine is coming out of New Haven.
Stay tuned and I will post name of Company when I get it.

My experience: Washington to Florida was $1,200 in an enclosed carrier. It was 3-4 years back.
So... to transport a car 800 miles for $1,200, it sounds expensive unless inflation or gas prices really went up!

I've gotten a few quotes in looking at cars over the last couple of months and yours sounds in line if it's a good company. I choose intercity as like a previous poster stated you really don't want to skimp on shipping. I got a quote to transport a car from Pittsburg to Vt it was 1100, Texas to Vt 1700 and alabama to VT 1395. Hope this helps.

I paid $775 for enclosed transport from Jacksonville FL to StL Mo using Reggie Williams or Willis out of Colorado as the broker last March. I am sure prices have gone up due to gas prices. But Rhode Island to Ohio - I would consider flying up and then driving back if possible. A lot of the cost is dependent on if there is a truck up that way with room.

Reliable was used with good experience by fellow 993 rennlister. They are out of Canton MI and the cost was 1000k from CT to MI. Seems okay to high...but "Reliable"

Thx guys!! Contacted Intercity and DeMoise. Would like to fly up and drive home but am a little concerned about 2 issues: weather, and car breakdown issues. Don't know why I feel a 16 y/o car is going to be unreliable, guess it because I have little to zero experience with these. A Buddy of mine with a 997.1 thought we should drive out together and drive home together for a true 993vs997 comparison!!! Might just do that.

I'm shipping my dad's BMW from San Antonio to Boston tomorrow via DAS. I drop it at their terminal and pick it up at their terminal. Not enclosed, $943. top tier, $100. less lower lever. GPS tracking in real-time. I've used them before for non P car shipping with good results, terminal to terminal.
