Will this radio fit a 993 and is it worth having given the advancement of the newer radios. I've had a new one in the box for many years and may decide to install it.
Thank you for the advise in advance.

I went through this decision a couple of months back. I purchased a CDR-220 from another PCar due to stock appearance, upon removing the aftermarket head unit the prior owner had installed I found the wiring harness had been cut. After that discovery (no more option of plug and play) I decided to go more modern (Blaupunkt Toronto 410 BT) which still looks at home in the dash but the modern aspects of the unit confirmed my decision. Bluetooth is GREAT with the external mic, 16GB SD card hidden behind the removable face holds all the music I'll ever need, USB front port, etc. My guess is the power and sound quality are superior also. There would likely be plenty of takers for your stock unit which would easily pay for something more modern and capable.

Yes, it fit's, I use them in both 993. Technical they are really old-fashioned, you will need time to navigate, but it works and it's the best way to combine navigation and the spirit of the 993-age.
By the way, instead of the CD-changer I use a black-box, called SOLISTO. Than you can use a USB-stick for MP3s with 4GB at the Porsche traffic pro as well.

Nope, doesn't work at all....
They work great, sound great, & you can hook up an iPod. PNP on 96+ you got to change a couple of wires on the 95's. You also have to remove the metal radio cage from the dash.

Tell ya what, I'll sell you one of mine, with the box, manual, updated maps, & nav antenna for $1800.
Seriously, call Becker, they sell them, a couple of years ago they were around $500 for everything.

It's good for about 90% of places I go, I've learned how to use it to get me in the area.
The unit is a great novelty, people are amazed that a 993 has a factory nav unit!

JP, you got to think back over 10 years ago, before the iPhone, Garmin & the rest. If you ever used a early Audi, or there nab device, it's just like that. You get an arrow that shows you your turn with distance, & a voice commands. It works really well. However, the maps are from 2003 (last update) & the POI's are WEAK, & a lot of B roads are not on the map disk.

In Germany a used Becker traffic pro cost's about EUR 200 ($280), the traffic pro with PORSCHE-brand are much more expensive, mostly about EUR 600 ($840).
Last October I had luck and bought my last PORSCHE-brand traffic pro for EUR 380 ($530) and it's completely new!

I have one... Its a little hookey, and to be honest, I rarely use it. All smart phones have such superior, easy to use, free software. Since it has an AUX option, wired that for a generic phone jack, so any device can be used.
The only issue is that the maps are old. Is there an upgraded CD. I think I have Version 2 of the CD.

I have the Harmon-Karden branded Traffic Pro, made by Becker. The appearance looks completely at home. I'm by no means an audiophile, but I think the specifications on the head unit are quite good, even by today's standards, so the sound is acceptable. It's slow to input navigation, and no map display, just an arrow and voice prompts. Single CD drive for the navigation or music. Reference maps are outdated, and no new ones I know of available.
It is easy and inexpensive to add full Bluetooth with the Tranzit Blu BLU-BKR 235 system. I got mine from http://www.discountcarstereo.com. With that and your iPhone, you can use Siri to input navigation, browse the web, dictate text messages, and play your music. With the iPhone in a dash-mounted clip, you have good, though small maps.
