Golden Rod install using midrise lift?
I'm attempting a Golden Rod install on my C2 this weekend and was wondering if anyone here has done this job on a midrise lift? If so, were you able to reach the necessary bits fairly easily, or did it just introduce a lot of frustration? I hate using jack stands with this car, so I’d rather avoid it if possible. However, I don’t want to start the job on the BendPak and then be forced to either curse my way through it, or transfer the car over to jack stands once under way.
Thanks,
John

When I did mine, I used stands at the front only - there was enough lift for me to get to the joint at the nose of the transmission. I did find myself climbing in and out of the drivers seat a few times to get the gear lever position 'right', as it is somewhat adjustable. Not sure how easy or safe that is if you are on a midrise.

Let us know what you think when it's done!
I bet the FDM crew will know how hard it will be to install on a midrise. You can always put it up on the lift, then if you need the room, lower it on jack stands to gain access, then move it back up.

Did refurb'ed my shift bushings etc (similar to a GR install) on a BendPak midrise - no issues - and I climb in the car regularly while on the lift to do stuff. Very stable.

Thanks Marc, that's the answer I was hoping to hear. Darin thought it was feasible, but I really wanted to hear from someone who has already been there/done that.
I’ll reply back and let you know how it went.

I had forgotten about the pad extensions until I saw the photos in Marc's link. Unfortunately I don't have the tall extensions that he used, but the medium height ones that came with my lift should give me enough room to minimize the cursing.

hey John
totally doable, as others have said
I've done this at my home shop, with a mid-rise lift
it is a bit of a jungle gym under there when getting at the center-most tunnel cover bolts but not too bad
have fun! If you have any questions, let us know

Gotta love FD. Great service, after sales support, and prices.
It was sunny without a cloud in sight today. Okay, so the high was only 45F and it was 28F when I left my house this morning, but at least the roads were finally dry! Of course that's supposed to change tomorrow

I did the install yesterday. A midrise lift works, but as expected, jack stands would have made the job a little easier thanks to the unimpeded view of various components. Shift quality is noticeably improved, with more precise throws, so I'm happy.
