Default What am I looking at here?

While extracting the passenger seat from my '97 C4S to figure out why the new flex shaft I installed lasted for a week, I noticed the following. In the first picture, what is the gray box (held in place by a galvanized metal bracket) under the glove box with the disconnected wires? This car is new to me. Had it about a month. Is there some reason that the previous owner would have intentionally disconnected it?

And in the second picture, what are these three components under the passenger seat?

I believe I solved the flex shaft issue. The top part of the outer seat rail appears to have been used as a leverage point and it was bent enough to prevent the two rail parts from gliding freely front to back. A little time with a pipe clamp and the seat rail now operates freely. A new flex shaft is on order.

under dash is the controller for the stock automatic spoiler... I assume the car has a fixed tail now?

Under the seat from left to right
Alarm/mobilizer, radio amp, door lock controller (im not positive on the last one)

Default Fixed spoiler

jscott82,
Yes, the car does have a fixed spoiler. I also see the green active spoiler light in the center console, and a switch in the center console to control an active spoiler.
This is my first 993. I guess I'm learning a bit about the car's history.
Thank you for your assistance!

The rectangular metal box with the blue plastic part, located in the far right of the picture, is the cruise control brain.

Thanks Bobby...

BTB,
Porsche sells a blank cover to replace the spoiler switch.. I cant find the part number off hand, but your dealer should be able to find it, and they are only a couple of bucks. There is also a replacement bezel, that removes the spoiler indicator, but most folks just remove the bulb...

Post some pics of the car....

Just a note that there are two different "covers" - one is a dummy switch and the other is a flat blank that sits flush.

Under the dash: Spoiler control module
Under the seat: Alarm/door lock control module, Nokia amplifier and cruise control unit.

Simplest way to avoid the spoiler warning light is simply to remove the bulb.
Cheers,
Tore

With the module unplugged, the spoiler light is disabled. No need to remove the bulb.

To be clear, the bulb I was speaking of is the one on the console to illuminate the switch.

You can also just jumper it in the engine compartment, light works like stock (comes on at start up, goes off when you hit 5 mph). That's what I did. I hate lying on the floor of the car trying to undo things under the dash. My body just doesn't contort that way very well.
