Hi Wayne,

Ok, I know I have this complete set

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...KD-483-121-OEM

So what am I missing, and do you sell it?

Also, what am I missing? WKD483420?

Cheers,

Mike

Does Porsche still make them available? If not, then they have nothing to whine about...either make them available or allow their distribution.

I have no problem with scanned copies being distributed, as long as they cost $400. I'm very annoyed that some would distribute free scanned copies when I paid $400 for my books.

$400 for new manuals is a good price. I paid $400 for a used set right after I got my first 993 and those were hard to come by at that time. I suspect I may be missing a supplement/update or 2 though.

I'm not. They got what they paid for.

I started with one of those "free" scanned copies, but then came across the 8-volume set on Pelican that I then bought. Till I saw those, I wasn't even aware that they were still available.

I'm willing to scan my 993 Owners Manual for those who cannot get a copy anymore. Does Porsche still print them?

I have always found paper bound manuals like this quite valuable. I have had soft-copy versions of manuals before (Bentely) and while useful in some ways, there is something to be said about being able to just grab a book and flip to a page. Other folks are more comfortable with a complete soft-copy approach. Niether is right/wrong, it just comes down to personal preference.

In regard to cost, I certainly wouldn't call these cheap at $399, but I wouldn't consider it a waste of good coin either. You are unlikely to find a more accurate resource in regard to 993s at the moment. Value is a very subjective term so I'll just leave it at that.

Porsche still has these available and in stock - for something like $1200 or so...

I'm a bit confused. You stated the following, which "close-out" to me would mean that Porsche no longer carries them.

Would you know if that applies to Owners Manuals as well. If they still have them, I'd like to order a spare to keep in the shop.

Hello, just for info, in Europe they cost US$ 699 at dealer for the english version and these will never be out of stock as long as Porsche exists.
I am very curious to knowing exactly if your sets have 8 or 12-13 volumes.
My understanding is all later supplements were inserted in the 8 volumes and were not in volumes by themselves, but if your sets are 12-13, maybe the supplements came in individual binders I don't know.
If you can check that would be swell, I have a friend who wants a full set and at your price, still less than dealer, thank you

I'm not sure - last I checked Porsche still had them in stock, and when you ordered all the supplements, it added up to about $1200. As for the owner's manuals, some are available and some are not - we typically don't know until we go to order them. I would check with one of our sales reps at 1-888-280-7799 and let them know exactly which one you're looking for.

thx,

Wayne

George, if it would help, I could count the number of pages in each volume. I have the 8-volume set. Let me know. BTW, some of the binders are packed.

Here's what they look like out of the box, and contain all the latest supplements:

The 996 ones have something like 25 volumes or something like that. I don't have the exact number of volumes of each set memorized, so I was off when I said 12-13. The 996 ones come with the supplements separately, so I was confusing the two. Sorry for the confusion.

This is what you're missing. Notice how thick it is compared to Volume 1 - Engine.

Hi
I would love to purchase the full set of workshop manuals for my 993, but the shipping would cost more than the manuals, to Australia............bugger.
I always purchase the manual for my cars, except the 993 and I have done more work on this car than anyother.
Having pages you can read and turn is the best, especiallly for the electrical section.

I believe the manuals from Porsche Australia cost a fortune.

Thanks,
