Just noticed these on Pelican. not sure if anyone is looking or not, but they're on there if you are.

Travis, for every new car or motorcycle I've bought, I always bought the factory shop manual shortly after my purchase.
They're more of a reference that I can quickly turn to and the dollars paid are saved countless times over within a couple of hours of labor not paid to a dealer or independent.

Well the soft copy is certainly better than nothing. I just thought an 8-volume set for that price was reasonable. If an owner isn't prepared to do most if not all of their own wrenching, then the soft copy should do.

I used mine quite a bit. The downloaded version (at least the photocopied and put on pdf version I have) is not adequate for my use...especially the electrical stuff. Is there an official pdf version?

I've never seen one listed.
I wanted to scan my 993 Owners Manual and save it to PDF for those not able to buy one, but haven't made the time to do so yet.
BTW, I also downloaded the Porsche Repair Manual from a German 993 site. The quality was much better, in fact, near perfect; pages were bright, straight, no scan through. You do need to be able to read and understand German though.

I use both. Its nice to be able to print out disposable pages when working in the shop, rather then getting tons of grease/oil/crap on my good set.
I would say the only advantage of the paper copies is the wiring diagrams, because whomever scanned the document did not have a large format scanner.
I have the paper copy because one of the guys I did work for very generously gave me a set. Otherwise I would not bother dropping the money on a paper set, just work in softcopy. I try to keep my contributions to Porsche as low as possible ; they already get enough of my money!
Just to give you an idea, I did the entire engine rebuild from the soft copy, got the hard copy after the rebuild. I do not see what is the issue other then the wiring diagrams? Its exactly the same manual.
Cheers
Mike
