As to your mysterious cut wires on the right side. Did you trace them out yet?
I was thinking maybe a rear facing radar detector was installed in the car by previous owner and was cut out later? Just guessing

I received the SAI block off plugs today and installed them. I'm not sure why but I was compelled to drill a hole in them. they seem too heavy to me... lol. ok to laugh I'm laughing at myself now.

I was wondering what could cause that much damage.
PO had the battery changed 5 years ago. I wonder if it's been like this for 5 years?? (car passed a PPI. but don't expect a $200 PPI would find this.) I put in a new battery around October. I did it myself so I know I didn't reverse connections.
Plug wires went in fine. A little WD40 help a lot. Engine harness was going in fine until I dropped the small bolt to the alternator ground. The alternator had to come out. Found the bolt. Work will continue.
Thanks for the comments and help!

It is very likely it has been like that since that battery change by the PO.
The part of the harness right at the alternator ends up being the "fuse" that blows at some point.
You are fortunate the alternator was not damaged. Often, the regulator gets fried.
Good luck getting it all back together

My 993 is back on the road!! Thanks to help from RENNLIST!
Review of work done:
Plug wires
Engine wire harness
Fan Bearing
alternator voltage regulator
SAI delete
paint fan and fan shroud
clean up oil mess in intake
left to do: Trace back unknown wires. so far these trace to under the passenger seat.
fired up the first time and drives GREAT! Had a good night sleep last night![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
