Default Cold air comes in thru door handle, normal?

This morning I went for a drive on 30 degree weather, and I noticed that a healthy stream of cold air manages to make it through the door handles inside the car. This is the case on both doors. Is this normal?

I have not noticed that in either of my 993s. Could be the plastic door liner behind the panel is missing, torn, ect...

I've noticed this - but only when the sunroof is open. I assume that creates a pressure differential and the easiest path in is via the internal door pulls. I've also noticed it on other (non-911) cars so it did not bother me...

I've noticed it too on occasion. Never took the time to track it down.

Meh, did the felt, didn't do much.

I stuffed a blue shop towel in the area where the rod comes through the panel, seems to do the job for the most part.

They are air cooled after all; just think, if you drove a water cooled P-car...water might come in

Boy, Leon, you've got some awesome roads around your area...The "lap" from Santa Fe to Brazos Cliffs and then across the high country to Taos and back south to Santa Fe is one of my favorite drives of all time.

This is a feature that comes with the car, it helps with the circulation. it was designed in the windtunnel by the Porsche engineers in order to on-up their competition.

Or its just a screw up.

I tried the felt, it did not seem to work, but perhaps I was not doing it correctly.

You should try this in a Targa, with that big roof open, the damn wind almost whistles out the door panel..

Cheers,

Mike

PS the TSB for this, along with all the others, is on pcarworkshop.

My C4 does this with the sunroof open. My C4S does not. I might see how much this little part cost.

Quick Reply: Cold air comes in thru door handle, normal?
