Been playing with my recently acquired 993 a bit the last couple days and when I pulled the floormats out to vacuum I noticed something interesting........the floorboard is made of wood.
So, the car sold for roughly $76k in late 1996 as a 1997 model. At 2% inflation, $76k in November 1996 is equivalent to over $102k in November 2011......with a wood floorboard.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I wonder what other car makers were using wood in their cars as late as 1998? Anyone know of any others besides Morgan (who I think still use it today).

I'm not sure you can really call that thing a wooden "floor board"... its wood, and its on the floor (more or less), but is really the pedal stop board. Just a nit to pick. Other "quirks" of our ancient cars... floor mounted pedals and rain gutters. Our 911s were very fresh and new in 1964. Its amazing how well they've been adapted and modernized.

There are also genuine cardboard door panels. The seats are no longer with real horse hair, but they used to be as late as very late 80s in most luxury German cars.

I read that too ... in the bathroom at Carrows :-)
Porsche ... they don't change anything unless it's not working for them ...
Well, wouldn't that be an insult? C'mon, the 901 platform was abandoned in 1998 so the car could move forward .... and forward it went. It was a corporate decision to keep the '911' moniker for the Goodwill it represented and I think we ALL understand that and appreciate it ... I don't hold ill will towards the 996 for that, I look at it as the next logical step and the 997 and 991 are their logical descendants. I better stop .. I'm getting emotional again ....
