Default FS: 4-Spoke Steering Wheel (R & R by Dallas Custom Steering Wheel)

I'm selling my recently recovered 4-spoke steering wheel that I had recovered by Dallas Custom a few months ago. I've been meaning to install it, but since getting my VW GTI (and its really great flatbottomed 3 spoke) I've decided to go in a slightly different direction with my interior revamp.

Part Number 993.347.804.55 so as I understand it good for 96-onwards (I have a '97).

Recovered with perforated and solid leather. Also added the thumb grips.

Asking 375 shipped anywhere in the USA

PLEASE GO TO THE END OF THE THREAD!!

Please be aware, I just swapped out what appeared to be identical wheels on my '96 a couple of weeks ago and the large metal airbag mounting plate that's held on with the four screws can vary (based on the airbag vendor I assume).

Depending on the specific airbag it may not bolt up without having to swap the mounting plate. The mounting plates attach differently based on the rear plastic cover that's integral to the wheel and will need a bit of cutting (not visible) on the internal mounting posts if the mounting plates are different.

Ben indicated that this is a 96+ wheel. Any bag from '96+ will fit without modifications. 95 bags will not.

Not true my car IS a mid '96. This wheel is the same as the one I swapped too and did not fit without the mod. Hey I'm telling you I've just been down this road but whatever....

You can swap that part out. Its the airbag 'retainer' i believe. The part isn't too expensive I believe.

Tuesday bump. I'm negotiable (to a degree). This is a great looking and feeling steering wheel.

Can anyone confirm this SW will fit on my '95?

I'll try this one more time.

When I swapped my wheel out there was an issue with the airbag not fitting because of the metal retaining plate that fits inside the wheel under the air bag. It's the big metal bracket that's held on with the four screws in the picture.

In doing more reading it's quite possible that the airbag was not changed over by Porsche until mid '96 which coincides with my car. If that's indeed the case as to why mine would not fit there is a solution.

You can't just swap the bracket as was stated in an earlier reply because the bracket itself won't fit in the wheel as is. However, with just a little miner cutting internal to the wheel backing it can easily be adapted. I did mine in about 5 minutes and it fits fine. If you post a picture of your retaining plate I can tell you if the same fix will work for you.

Kilodawg, could you let us know what month of '96 your car was made? This would be very useful info for the future cases of this nature (it wouldn't surprise me if they, indeed, changed somewhere in the middle of '96 model year).

Porsche PET seems to show changeover in May '96. Which makes sense. Good info, Kilodawg!

Wow earlier than I recalled. I must have confused the month with my 930. It's a 9/95 build which would make it an early '96.

That makes sense now. So we'll assume that changeover was 5/96 unless somebody steps forward to change that.
