In Orlando Florida 993s are a rare sight too
I don't recall more than three at the same meeting....usually it's mine plus one

See quite a few 993s around here. Certainly more in the winter than summer since a lot of them belong to "seasonal" residents. I have withdrawl symptons each time a nice 993 coupe or 993TT is sighted! BTW See lots and lots of 997s. My son counted 7 during a recent 10 mile drive!

In The Milwaukee area, I've only seen 3, including my own. There is a great car show here once a year - The Milwaukee Masterpiece. I've attended for 3 years with my MB and have always enjoyed looking at the Porsche group. Never a 993. This year, I'll be showing and representing the 993. Maybe I'll see another.

A quick add-up brings for USA+Canada: Coupes 15,527, Cabs 10,452 and TT ca. 2,600. These are not large numbers! No surprise that the 993 is not a 'common' car.

About 29,500 993s sold in the US & Canada between 1994 and 1998 (have to add the Targas to the #s above). Compare that to about 57,500 997s between 2004 and 2010. Not quite twice as many cars sold but it seems like you see 5 to 10 997s for every 993 on the road.

Saw 2 on the Merritt yesterday - a cab and a TT.

Seen a few in Manhattan lately as well. Struck a conversation with one guy who was jumping in his 95 C4 at the parking garage next to my building. Car was filthy, 126K miles, daily driver. The owner told me he loves it.

Saw a C4S parked on 13th Street recently as well, and a midnight blue cab on 6th Ave by 42nd Street the other day.

There is also a red NB coupe with a RUF front bumper, big wing, wheels and the SUV ride height that parks on the street in my neighborhood sometimes. Haven't tried to locate that owner

Default Midwest 993's

Well, though the 993 is fairly scarce here in the Chicago area, I would not say that they are in a minority. I was at an Autocross sponsored by the Chicago PCA several weeks ago. There were 24 cars entered, of which 3 were 993's. Not nearly as rare as my 1993 968, which I just sold. There were no 968's at the AX.

Pretty scarce in LA - believe it or not...in a city where you can usually find any car worth looking for, 993's are tough to spot. However, with that being said, I saw a 993 Black Targa at the car wash this morning and a 993 Midnight Blue Cab on my way home today. Go figure.

I am the offical STL 993 stalker.

Saw a pastel yellow targa tip in belleville today (couldn't be many of those, it drives by where I work every once in a while)

STL 993's that I know of (have not seen them all yet but have pics of most of them):

1 silver coupe (me), 2 midnight coupes (both on RL), 1 red cab, 1 black cab, 1 black coupe, 1 midnight C4, 2 silver 4S's (both on RL?), 1 black S (son is on RL), 1 Metallic green cab and 1 yellow cab (both same owner on RL, have you sold the green one yet?) 1 Amethyst? Turbo, +1 black S

EDIT: after some cyber stalking add another black S to the STL list for rwm, looks awesome never saw your post the first time

So 15 that I know of over the last few years ( I left out the 4 or 5 that have sold and left the area one of them is the post below rwm's post).

Would be great to get them all together sometime for a drive.

I think there were three 993's.
It is definately a rare car.
I was there too--but only came from as far as Dayton!!

I didn't do an exact count but think there was more like six...maybe seven. I had the same thought--maybe 500 Porsches and only 3-6 of them 993s. Not very far north of 1%!!

Probably no more than 15-18,000 of the 993's on the road today (wrecked, track car, exported, etc.); so the ratio is probably more like 4:1. Additionally, most people aren't using their 993's as daily drivers.

I think that's the biggest key right there. Very few aircooled cars of any vintage are being driven daily, so naturally we don't see them on the road much.

If you look at the production numbers, 993 is only a little scarcer than 964 or carrera 3.2...and i think there are relatively more left...

You guys live in the wrong place. There's a bunch of 993's in our town. Of course, we're pretty overrun by water cooled 911's, so those ratios of air to water probably are correct.

Not meaning to be too OT, but I saw a 959 in sag harbor last week, on the way to the Shelter Island ferry. It looked like a 993 from the front, but when the side came into view, and then the vents and wing, my eyes nearly fell out. It was creme colored. I considered turning around and stalking, but had a business meeting to attend. Don't know if it was Seinfeld or Ralph Lauren or some other wealthy sort.

So I guess we have a few more classics than some other locations.
