993 scarcity
I attended a local P-club function today in Corrales, NM, just outside of Albuquerque. Supposedly this is the single biggest gathering in the state on a yearly basis. There were a total of 56 cars and about twice as many people. While overall there was a good representation and cross section of beautiful cars, I was amazed that there were only 2 993's present; mine and a beautiful white Carrera S, original owner with sport seats.
So, the point is, out of all the cars there, 993s seem greatly under represented to me. There were more 356s and 914s than 993s! I know that Porsche had some pretty lean years with the 993, but were there truly so few made that this was an accurate representation? If so, I might need to remove my "for sale" ad from this forum.

There use to be a good number of 993's in Hong Kong. But they are slowly getting moved to Australia. There are a good number of 993's here in Perth. I see them occasionally. And even though I have one myself - I still can't help but stare at the beautfuil lines the car has.

I see the same 6 here in Dallas on a weekly basis. 2 silver, 2 black, 1 yellow and one red.
So add in mine and that makes 7 that people are willing to drive.
However, I see countless 997's and 996's.

In the Denver metro area I see Boxsters and 996/997's once or twice a week, and older air cooled cars maybe twice a month, but I only see 993's about twice a year, not counting the ones in the paddock at the local tracks.

My area is saturated with p-cars and not many are 993
Not to get OT, but it is funny to see the obligatory pricing threads and the beating up of numbers in those threads - however there are so many potential buyers claiming it is hard to find a good one.
I had an out of town friend over last night who is a potential buyer, extremely picky - more so on condition than color and options. He said he has been casually looking for a while and really hasn't found anything worth while yet.
It's pretty cool that the 993 is relatively rare, and worth preserving/driving at the same time.

993 production numbers can be found in http://p-car.com/production.html
A quick add-up brings for USA+Canada: Coupes 15,527, Cabs 10,452 and TT ca. 2,600. These are not large numbers! No surprise that the 993 is not a 'common' car.
