Meanwhile, Neil's taking the hump at being left out of Robin & Richard's private party.

With the engine hung in place, the aircon pump was next on the list. We did not fit the fuse box assembly on the left of the engine bay because the aircon pipes run underneath the box. The easiest way to fit the pipes is to fit the pump onto the engine first, support the pipes on the fan shroud and then fasten them into the car as Robin has done here. The fuse board and electrics can then go in to finish the engine bay installation.

Back under the car we refilled the gearbox with oil using our ancient but effective hand pump.

Meanshile panel preparation for the final primer session continued with Neil leveling and flatting the seat backs.

The eagle eyes amongst you would notice that there is no suspension on the shell yet, the reason for this is that we are awaiting delivery of a new KW Variant 3 kit which should be with us early next week. Plenty more to do before then but it will be nice to soon be showing off some new shiny bits underneath.

Robin has nibbled away at the assembly of the front end today in between other jobs, hence this is what the back side of the dash looks like without the heater box in the way. Engine bay now pretty much finished apart from bolting down the a/c compressor, filling with oil & power steering fluid and the final torquing of the engine fixing bolts - hence the warning sticker.

METICULOUS WORK !!!

There is a black tape on the door contour and underneath the window strip.
On the contour it is large and about 1 centimeter thick under the window strip.
Looks and feels like electric tape. Does anyone know what it is or has the part number...

Small tape = pvc insulation tape as suspected

Large tape = complete self-adhesive door foil, seals door and prevents water getting onto outside of door trim panel.

Robin has been working on rebuilding the heater box for the last couple of days. Unfortunately the original one out of the car was damaged by someone in a previous life, so we had to strip and rebuild the box into a completely new housing. All the drain pipes were sorted along with a faulty fan motor and aircon evapourator (!). Here it is now ready to fit:

We're relocated the shell into the assembly shop where it is relatively dust free, so whilst Robin has been working on anciliary parts Neil has flatted off the panelwork ready to machine polish. I'll update the photos when I catch him with mop in hand.

... and back in the paintshop Neil and Phil have also been painting the bumpers, seat backs and other anciliary bodywork items.

Seats will have to be assembled next to go off to Andy for trimming, so that's Marc's next challenge should he choose to accept it.

Colin, I'm going to be painting my hard back seats soon. I see you've taped the edge where the leather wraps around - is this for a particular reason due to experience or because you feel it would be a good idea. Just curious - and as always everything looks great!

Simple answer, it's masking tape. No point in wasting paint on the front of the seats! The leather covering goes over a foam base layer which is not removed for painting, so we mask up the front to keep the paint off it and make the retrim work a whole lot easier.

Glad you are all enjoying it, so are we.
