OT: Forum Game.... Whats the next classic car?
I think this will be fun. Name the next "classic car" that is currently in production, or has been in production in the past 10 years! This would be a car that will have collectors value! Although its impossible to predict its value, it should be fun seeing what you guys think would be one.

I think the 996 GT3s will trend upward in price like the 93/94 RS America.... Many people want a *****-to-the-wall track car, and the 996 "3" fits the bill without TC or PASM.... Too bad it has a 996 body, because it is a blast to drive!
I also think the 997.1 GT3 RS will increase in value. It was the first RS stateside since the 70s, and I think everyone will want a low-mileage example in their collection....

930 are becoming collectable. Many have been wrecked in one way or another.
1989 930 with the 5 speed should be pretty collectable
+ very iconic car from the 80s

Sticker was around $29-30k (only option was full leather seats); low mileage unmolested versions typically sell for around $20k; not bad depreciation for 7 years. Many were heavily modified

Donny Isley from the BMW Performance Center brought a 1M up to the Tarheel BMW CCA DE at VIR this past week-end just to show it off and give a few "fun rides". Regretfully, it quickly developed a problem and had to sit out the event. Seems the rigidly-mounted plenum tube from the turbo to the intake sheared. A few wraps of "rescue tape" from yours truly fixed it sufficiently to get him back home. Quick little car but butt-ugly IMHO.

It's hard to say. With the BMW 1M, bet they make 500 more if the demand is there
Looks like they are gearing up to produce a lot of McClarens, can't say the new one will be collectable, unlike the McClaren F1.
this is a tough question

With all the electronic gadgetry present in today's cars, I'm afraid that as they age they will be difficult to keep road worthy. Availability of model specific electronic parts will quickly become `unobtainium'.

On the Porsche side:
997.2 GT3
These were made during the GFC, out of production now and sold in fewer numbers (in ROW markets in any case).
996.1 GT3 and GT3RS due to significantly lower production numbers than ubsequent models. However these fit outside the 10 year rule.
Sport Classic is possibility but with the proliferation of 997 variants its looking like anyones guess.
CGT is a likely.
e46 M3 CSL is a sure bet. Already holding strong.
e39 M5 should hold tight now. Later gen v10 version is likely to be worth no more than a good e39 M5 within 3-4 years. New version is faster but bigger and less organic - also less fun on the limit.
Put simply any highly regarded low production sports car made between 2008-2010 GFC will fair well compared to pre and post GFC higher production units downstream I would suggest....
Cheers
