Default Perfect....What the ****?

Apparently my car suffered from a hernia. I recall doing a hard accelleration and hearing something strange. Like a pop and whine then slowed a bit but schrugged it off.

Further inspection revealed this.

Age + heat = Bad rubber parts breaking. Is this common?

Don't worry, it's fairly common. Do a search and you'll find more info. i don't know it on top of my head.

I've had to replace mine. Don't know how common it is. Age and heat cycling did seem to be culprit.

Still a bit shocking....will the car run hot until I get the replacement on? Should I refrain from driving on a 90 degree day? (I presume so, but wanted to ask the experts)

Is as common as muck.

$37 from most places. 5 minutes to replace.

Common and $30 from Sunset. Be aware there are two different versions. I posted pics of each here before. Only 95 is questionable, yours will be the newer version.

Looks like you wore it thin polishing it and now it doesn't work. Didn't your mom warn you about these things when you were 16?

(in the vein of previous answers) No, the car will not run hot if you don't rub it.

For those who need a part number for it, it's:
#964 106 403 02 "air duct" for Model M64.05/06, M64.07/08, & M64.20 M003
#993 106 403 00 "air duct" for Model M64.21/22 & M64.23/24

Go to Robin's p-car site if you're not sure which Model # you have (under the VIN section).

Looks like you got most of it but it's worth a look on top of the engine/cylinders to see if you can fish out any more pieces before installing the new one. Ken

My lame humor was a compliment to your engine detail. Besides some serious elbow grease, what did you use on the aluminum and cast parts?
