Default Accidentally put in Regular gas

I realized the mistake when I looked at my receipt. I put in 8 gallons of 87 regular gasoline. Would you put some 'octane booster' in the tank or just slowly add a few gallons of Premium in it until it starts to even out the octane rating? It's a first for me

it won't be a problem, add a couple of gallons of good stuff in as soon as you can, and keep doing that.

Let's see.........how many of us have done this? Now the real shame would have been if you grabbed the green diesel pump.

Just drive it like a normal car. As long as you're not running under high load and/or in really hot weather you'll have burned a half a tank and can top up with premium. Which I'm sure is 93 where you live. Think about all the tanks of 91 (if that) that we run through out here.

No full throttle stuff until you get some 93 added.

Use this link, and maybe buy some 93 octane without alcohol:

I would agree, add incrementally the highest octane gas you can. Don't push the car at all hard until you can get the blended back up to 93.

8 gallons of 87 in a 19 gallon tank is not a big deal. You're still slightly above 90 octane total.

Thank you! That list shows the station I normally go to. No ethanol and 93 octane. OK, I'll slowly fill up as the needle heads south and keep the RPMs down. Thanks to all who replied so quick. I'll skip the 'octane booster' since no one seems to think it is necessary.

93 with 10% ethanol vs 93 octane Pure Gas (no ethanol) will also have a big effect on your gas mileage. At least 10%-15% better with the Pure Gas.

It definitely is better and only about 6c a gallon more than the cheapest station in town. I always wonder how long it will last before not being an option any longer.

It's not about low revs, it's about low load. Think 2K RPM in 6th (hell, 3rd) and floor it going uphill.

Wait don't these cars have knock sensors? If so the worst that could happen is the computer advance or retard the timing or change the fuel trim and the car feel underpowered until the low octane gas is gone resulting in no risk of damage? Or No?

A friend of mine with a modded 997TT thought that octane booster was a substitute for high octane fuel. Cost him a valve job.

Only retards so much. You can blow through it.

Valve only, not piston? Oh did I make money in the '80s with the 930 crowd who just Had To Have boost *****. More than one came on the hook with the owner depressed claming "but I used octane booster!"
