I had a cat delete with fister III's, but way to loud and I lost torque.
So I put on my old lpmm's with the cat delete.... Wow ! How sweet the sound. It is loud when you want it but doesn't resonate into the cabin. With the windows up and roof slightly open.. No issues having a conversation.

Original 2.5" LPMM on stock mufflers. Very happy with this because it is the perfect balance of exhaust vs. engine noise.

I don't have a sound clip handy, but there are lots of ways to make these babies sound great. I have a drilled airbox, 100 cell split flow cats and "RSRs". I love it and have gotten lots of compliments.

Best ever may be a stretch... As much as I love the sound of an air cooled flat six, the shriek of the BRM V16 raises the hairs on my neck every time I listen to my "Into the Red" CD at full blast. If you are not familiar, it's Nick Mason's book on some of his favorite cars & it came with a great audio CD - interview with Simon Taylor & sound clips of the cars around the Goodwwod circuit at full nuts.
The V16 was all of 1.5 liters with a Rolls Royce soupacharga, Yes it was (and is) horribly unreliable, but for 1951, you have to admire the ingenuity required to coax 550bhp from such a small displacement.
Turn it up & wait for the centrifugal screws to kick in...

Wow some great noises, especially from the gulf coloured 993 at 2:45. Who knows:
In that film what comes after the the glorious 936 (is that a 907 or a 910)?
How many 936's were there, I recall they won LM in approx 1977 and again in 1982?
Thanks

One more...
Although just revving the engine really doesn't do justice to any kind of exhaust, you need to hear it WOT, under load, then you hear the true sound.
For example my exhaust really screams with high pitch and is a lot louder when WOT than what in this clip.
(I used to have supercups and cat bypass but that sound too much like V8)
Not to mention the idiot who shot this (I) placed the camera way too far...

Here's one shot I took, you can see part of the bumper bar, race cats and headers through the holes, it's a phone photo which doesn't show well since the lighting sucks.

That clip sounds fantastic. (And I think Cactus has one of the best looking 993s on the board)... but I am confused. I have heard FD II in person and they sounded quieter than the "FD I" in that clip. Maybe just the video, etc. but curious why else it might be. I was planning on FD III, worried about FD II being too quiet, but Cactus video sounds just right...
